I've been a JB (sometimes Distortion) user for years. I've been through many of those pickups, from various vintages, installed in many different guitars run through many different amps...And of all the JBs I've played, this is by far the best sounding one.. Just.. WOW!It has all the output you'd expect from a JB, but with none of the harshness of the standard JB. There's something about the aging they've done to the magnet which seems to do some Hoodoo Voodoo Magick that rounds out the tone and makes it the most buttery smooth, yet, still very articulate JB ever.My only gripe, if I had to pick something, is: I think they maybe went a tad too far with the visible aging. Taking chunks out of the bobbin where a pick or vibrating strings might have ground it down over a thousand years of playing. And then there's the rusted pole screws. It just kind of looks like someone buried it in their garden back in 1990 and just found it the other day... But, it matches the rest of the aesthetic and looks great with the other aged hardware on the guitar I installed it in. Sooooo... ¯_(ツ)_/¯All that said, it might look a bit out of place if the rest of your hardware isn't also aged, but, it sounds freakin' amazing! And the sound is what really matters. Stop reading reviews. Buy one. Srsly.
