About this item

  • Hum Canceling
  • D.C. Resistance: 10.0k
  • Magnet: Alnico 5 bar
  • Output: Medium
  • Resonant Peak: 7.0khz

This pickup was designed in Duncan's Custom Shop for George Lynch. It has the big open sound of their '59 Model with a little less bite and a little more growl. The tone is big, percussive and still bites without being harsh. It uses alnico magnets and yields medium output. Four conductor cable. Trembucker spacing.

Killer pickup, perfect 80’s hair metal sound !! Not to much bass or treble and enough mids to punch through a live show mix.

The venerable Seymour Duncan JB series has been my go-to bridge pickup for over 25 years. I was reluctant to get the Screamin' Demon because I'm not trying to chase George Lynch's tone (awesome as he is). But when I read other reviews online I couldn't help but notice these are medium output. Which is great for someone pushing their signal chain through pedals, then a tube amp. You can roll off the volume a bit and you don't lose a lot of tone, so it's a very flexible bridge pickup, and it's not always on "metal-only" mode. I love metal but sometimes I like to bring it back a bit for blues, or classic rock. This one does it all. Beefier, a bit darker, and slightly percussive tone in comparison to the JB series (still a great pickup though). I've been throwing in the Screamin Demon on all of my super strats and have been very happy with the results.

These are not as hot as the name implies, but I love them. Have them in two guitars. Do your homework before install, and you won't be disappointed. If you looking for a heavier sound you might want to consider the JB model.

These rule! Shred your face off with metal solos. I have them in a charvel, an Ibanez and another project guitar I'm building.

This pickup is my dad's favorite pickup ever. I always preferred a JB-4 in the bridge, and he would always counter that the SH/TB-12 (Screamin Demon) was better. So I tried it out in a Basswood Body Ibanez Iceman.Since I mentioned the JB-4 earlier, let me note right away that the JB-4 is a high output pickup while the SH/TB-12 is a medium output pickup. This pickup is awesome in that it is super smooth with the guitar's volume turned low and then it just screams with the volume cranked! Also, the pickup tonal capabilities range from country twangish to blues and to rock. So it is a very versatile pickup.I have this pair with a Dimarzio LiquiFire Neck Pickup–the two blend extremely well! I highly recommend this pickup to any guitar looking for a pickup that can be smooth yet still scream.
