Until now, we have used a white incandescent pool light. It was functional and good for its day but it died and a new variable color LED light seemed like an excellent improvement.The SH101100 5G LED RGBW 10 Inch 120VAC Pool Lights for Inground Pool was easy to install. My wife was dying to use her new scuba tank and this light was just the ticket to prove its worth. She donned her tank, descended two feet beneath the surface of our pool and removed the old light from its niche. She cut the existing electric cord, taped the cord from the new light to the end of the old and I pulled the cord through the conduit for connection to the electricity source. Installation was a little more involved than this but not by much. You don't need to be prepared to dive on the Great Barrier Reef to install this light.Well, it worked. The remote has a very short range making it not so convenient to use. We chose a setting we liked and will live with it. Now, not only did we have a new working light but now we had AMBIANCE in living color.This one is a keeper.

Pool lights can be ridiculously expensive. Swapping out a bad one for a new one is not always as easy as you'd think. This is a very cost-effective replacement for my now defunct pool light. The OEM replacement would be over $1000. This is $300. Definitely worth a shot to see if it works. Installing this weekend, will update this review if it disappoints in any way.

I am rather impressed with the overall quality of this pool light. I'm replacing a 30 year old Pac-Fab 61-8230, which is starting to show its age. This light is almost an exact replacement. The housing itself is thinner, due no doubt to the LED array. If you've never replaced one of these lights, it's a breeze. You just need a fish-tape that will reach from the light to the junction box. Be aware that if your light is located far from the switch, pool builders will run the cable to a separate junction box located closer to the light, and then from there to the switch. Look for remnants of an insulated power cord in the j-box. If you only see individual wires, start looking for another j-box. Once you've located it, just pull the cord out of the conduit from the pool end, and then insert the fish tape, pulling the new wire back to the box. That's all there is to it.This light comes with a remote to control on/off, brightness, and the different modes. Unfortunately, because the light is submerged, the range is somewhat limited. The listing states the use distance is "3 meters and 1 meter underground". I'm not sure what they mean by "underground", perhaps they mean "underwater". But I found the actual range to be better than that. Currently, the water is too cold to get in and install the light in the niche. . . it's sitting on a step just under the surface. With that, I'm seeing maybe 35 or 40 feet. We'll see, and I'll update the review when I get it set deeper underwater. Fortunately, when you switch the light on from your wall switch, it assumes the color/brightness that it had previously, so in many cases you won't need the remote. One minor annoyance. . . the remote doesn't come with a battery, and it doesn't take your regular AA/AAA cells either. It uses one A23 cell, which you probably don't have laying around. They're easily available on Amazon, $3.50 for a pair, but they really should have included one.I do have high praise for this companies customer service. I quickly received an answer to an email inquiry I had, and it was apparent to me that they fully stand behind their product.

This stainless steel pool light is suitable for both saltwater and freshwater pools and comes with a long 100-foot cord for easy setup. The remote doesn't look or like it's is in any way water resistant. Given it's operating range and likely-hood of being used with wet hands...well, you get the idea.

No harder to install than name brand. Only issue was the top mounting screw was too small so I took the one from my old fixture and mounted with no issues. Hope it lasts a while. My last $1000 + unit only lasted a couple of years.
