Yes, it is a shadow box. The shadow box comes with the glass in the back to protect from damage.To get the glass in the front of the shadow box. First bend up the black metal tabs around the perimeter of the back. Then remove the black back, remove the white sheet, remove the glass, pull out the inside white frame. Then reinstall the glass first, then put in the white interior frame, then your objects, then the white back sheet and finally put the black outside back in. Bend the tabs back down to hold back in place. Hang shadow box on the wall with the hanger on the back or set in on the table with attached leg.It all took less than five minutes to do it.It works perfectly.

Total garbage. Corner came damaged and separated from the frame. Also very cheaply made

I panicked at first because I thought it wasn't actually a shadow box, but then looked again and realized you have to take apart to move the glass to the front to use as an actual shadow box. I assume it is shipped that way so the glass doesn't break.

I do love the frame. However it took me awhile to figure out how it went. Maybe just a picture of how the glass goes inside the other part. Took me forever to figure it out.

Wanted to frame some bug specimens and this was by far the best option I found for this project. Seems like it could be great for a lot of other crafts as well.
