The top-most screw holding the wall brackets for shelvesin would be supporting the most weight. You should fit shelf brackets with the longer arm against the wall and the shorter one under the shelf.

First ones came badly bent and damaged, so sent back, they resent new ones and the 2nd ones worked just as expected only 1 bent. Watch the size, these are plenty big enough for good sized shelves.

Although these are inexpensive, they are quite sturdy and install very easily. The holes are lined up well so that you can hit a stud with both the top and bottom holes. I don't know that I would store my barbells on them, but I do have a shelf full of power tools and they are very secure. Yes, I would recommend.

A lot of reviews say these are made of cheap thin steel, but they are good quality (I have purchased these at least 3 times now) and for a shop or garage, they hold a LOT more weight than a person would think. Some small engines, gallon paint cans, and heavy (60+ lb.) boxes are easily supported. As long as You mount these correctly, they are really good. I'll be buying more of these, AND I would recommend highly. FAST shipping, too. Thanks, Amazon. -Bud
