This wheel arrived intact, even though the box was mangled. The wire bristles are packed pretty densely and the face is wide and smooth. I did not detect any runout at all. I used it to clean up a chunk of railroad track that I will use as a bench anvil. I ran it in a drill at the highest speed. It worked very well stripping the rust and crud off the flat surfaces, and moderately well on the radiused angles. As dense as it is, it does not flex much. My next project is to clean up a bunch of wrenches and such that were my father's. I expect that it will work well for that. All in all, a well built and solid tool.

This wire brush is great for rust or old paint removal, and is compact, yet with a wide face. The wires are quite stiff, closely spaced, and aggressive which speeds the work. They are tightly retained, but like all rotary brushes, could come loose, so good safety glasses (and a dust mask) are a must.I have a little concern that the description states that this brush is meant to be used with die grinders up to 20,000 RPM, yet all the pictures on the description page show it chucked into a power drill, not a die grinder, and the box it came in is labeled “Max RPM – 12,500.”It gets into tight spaces with its small diameter, and it has very stiff bristles that remove material easily. It’s a useful tool, but absolutely requires safety glasses, especially if you intend to run it at the high speeds claimed in the description.

The correct way, to my knowledge, to clean aluminum to weld is to push the oxides in one direction with a stainless steel brush. Put this little wheel on a die grinder and you can make the aluminum cleaning process awesome. If you do go that route, I'd also recommend keeping it in a container when not in use and only use it on aluminum so you're not pushing in contaminants. When this one wears out I'll definitely be picking up another.

The dimensions are roughly as advertised. My shank was closer to 6mm then 1/4". However for my purposes that is not an issue. It feels durable and the bristles are nice and stiff. I've only used it on a few jobs now. Overall it feels like it will hold up as well as my other wire wheels. The areas where I have found this the most useful so far is in some tighter areas and around edges where the drill thickness doesn't matter.Because the bristles are firm, short, wide, and densely packed I found it good at cleaning smaller tools. For example, I have a small pair of pliers and when I was holding the drill against the table and pressing the pliers into the bristles, I found that it was easy to control and the pliers cleaned up nicely. This will be a nice addition to my wire wheel collection.I do not see it replacing any of my larger wire wheels. When I use it with my drill, the area just behind my chuck and drill clutch selector is actually a little more then 2 inches. This means I find myself using it at an angle and only a small portion of the bristles are making contact with the work area.

Pretty good quality. Seems to be holding well. I use my drill on both directions to prevent slowly wrapping it on itself. Does a decent job removing paint from metal. It might eat up your drill batteries, so have backups if you don't want to interrupt your work (or use a wired drill instead), but that's not the product's fault, it is just physics.Would recommend.

I just received this wheel and tried it on some rusty steel. It works quite good. The good thing is the wheel is very dense and there is no big runout on the OD. I guess the wheel is ground on the OD after assembly. The wheel came in a cardboard box, belonging to a 75 mm cup brush. So all information on the box is invalid. The description says it is good for 20000 RPM die grinder. Well, die grinders usually run faster, mine runs at 28000 RPM. I have tried this wheel with my cordless drill at 1200 RPM and it works OK for light rust removal. I cannot even try it with a die grinder because it has a 1/4" collet and this wheel has a 6 mm shank. Apparently Chinese think it is the same thing, but we know a little better.Overall it is a good product. If only the seller would fix the problems with it...

That's not a criticism, it's just that due to the wire being packed in pretty close together and its width, I wasn't expecting it. Wheels I've used before are packed less dense and the wires longer, so they're lighter and bend a bit or flex as you use them. (The fourth image on this page seems to show it best.) So what this means is if you're looking for a wheel to flex to complex shapes and such, this probably isn't the one for you. But if you're looking to use it as a sort of semi-flexible wheels to rapidly remove material such as paint, rust, etc., on a mostly flat surface and still be able to get into small places, I don't know of one better. Also, if you ever need to clean the inside of a metal hole or pipe, this would be great. I think you'd be there forever with a traditional wire wheel. Personally, I can never have enough wire wheels and abrasives to remove rust or paint, so I'm happy that I added this to the "collection".

I go through wheels like this more often than I would like. Often it is to clean up a rusty surface in order to put a fresh coat of paint on. I recently bought some rest inhibiting paint and needed a fresh surface to apply it to, this wheel came in handy and did the job just right. I love when I can use my full power drill instead of having to use my Dremel tool, and the thickness on this wheel really allows me to eat a lot of material efficiently. The wire on the brush is very stiff, making it really last. Stiff, making it really last.
