This is a great radio and works well with lots of capability. However they obviously use cheap parts as the dial froze after less than a day of use. I'm familiar with the internal design of this radio and it's likely the encoder is just a cheap item not reliable for the constant use a radio dial gets. I've built radios using encoder dials and they should last for years. Do not but this item.

I was delighted with this at first. Lots of fun and I tried it with HF bands - then the knob encoder broke stopped turning. I was doing nothing but what it was supposedly built for. Piece of crap. I am wondering if other radios with the same description, from other vendors, are built better. The only thing I can say that's positive is thank god I didn't spend more money.

Clunky menus but pretty good reception even with the whip antenna . For the price, it’s worth it.

This is a fun radio to use. Reception is good on all frequencies. The display very bright and easy to read. This version has fixed many of the problems other radio like this one have. I bought another brand and the tuning knob was so small it was hard to use. This one has a larger knob that is easy to use. I like that they include two different types of antennas. I found the telescopic antenna work best for me on the shortwave bands. The radio is small enough that you can carry it in your pocket and go to a park and get better reception. I could not believe the good sound quality out of a tiny speaker. It is sold at a great price and worth trying.

This thing works surprisingly well. I was able to receive Ham stations using Morse Code on 40M band in USB mode. But it only worked for about one day. And then the rotary encoder stopped working. It no longer can be “clicked” to activate menu functions. And even turning it to tune became difficult. I am thinking of opening it and replacing the rotary encoder. Or just sending it back for a refund as it is now useless.
