I got this extender to stream movies from my computer to a TV across the room, and it’s been a fantastic solution. Running a long HDMI cable would have been costly and impractical, so this was a much better option. The performance is flawless—no complaints at all.A pleasant surprise was discovering it includes an HDMI pass-through and an IR pass-through, both of which make it incredibly convenient. The HDMI pass-through allows me to keep my monitor connected while streaming, and the IR feature means I can use my remote without hassle.Without this extender, I’d have had to set up another computer or laptop just for movie nights. It’s made my setup far more streamlined and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to bridge long HDMI gaps efficiently![Disclaimer: This review is for "SIIG 4K HDMI Extender Over Cat6, 164ft, IR Passthrough & Video Loop-Out, HDCP 2.2, 5.1 Channel Audio, Auto Downscaling, ESD Protection, Splitter-Compatible with Extra HDMI Output (CE-H27K11-S1)". The video quality is fairly good once you get it to work. I didn't have any luck getting the IR passthrough working, but the video quality was fairly good. Some of the other ones I've used don't have exact audio synchronization. This one does, also there are no artifacts on the video so the conversion and boost are pretty good.I noticed that my monitor only gave me 60hz, but that was expected. Also, you need power on both sides which delayed me a little bit when I was troubleshooting my connection. Now, latency... it does have a delay but it is only about 2 seconds at most. This one is a RECOMMEND!

This is a pair of boxes that allow you to extend a 4K HDMI signal over a long distance. It's the perfect solution for digital signage, themed entertainment, or just relocating video from a bunch of equipment hidden away in a closet or basement to your TV in a living space. They come with an IR passthrough dongle that allows sending IR signals back from the area where your TV is to the origin equipment, so you can control your gear even if it's tucked away in a hidden area. There's also a feature allowing HDMI passthrough to a second display at the origin, which is great if you want to connect a projector or remote TV but still see what's being displayed when maintaining the equipment (think in a setup in a large convention center/church/meeting room where a sound booth has all the equipment but a projector is used elsewhere in the venue).I like this device in general - it has solid metal construction, support for standards like HDCP 2.2 (for showing copy-protected content), and it's backed by a company I've used accessories from over a long period of time. There's only one thing I don't like: both ends of the extender have to be powered by local wall wart adapters. That's frustrating because it makes it difficult to attach one of these to a TV without needing a local power strip. What I'd love to be able to do is have the remote box be powered by power-over-Ethernet from the primary box, but that support isn't built into this device. If that isn't possible for some reason, a fallback would be to allow the remote box to be powered over USB, as most TVs have a powered USB port. Unfortunately, neither is possible here, and you're stuck with the wall wart. It's relatively small, but still requires a second outlet...Other than that, this is a solid option. But there are other devices out there from other manufacturers which do include power-over-cable options that cost less than this set, so you might want to shop around if that feature is important to you.

The two most important questions to ask when it comes to HDMI extenders are: do they pass video / audio at advertised rates and resolutions? And what quality are the results? I have used a couple of different brands for these connectors always with mixed results. These extenders are no different. The overall color and resolution quality is good, but I did not see consistent 60 hz/fps results, and I often saw screen tears and line distortions that could only be fixed if I disconnected and reconnected at the extender units.

The HDMI over CAT 6 cable works really well. Excellent set for when you want a slave display on the other side of a long room, or in another room (or building!). Just be sure and use high quality CAT 6 if you want max range and quality. It allows you to have a display/TV on the transmit end and the receive end without any other equipment. However, it will downscale the video to the lowest resolution of the two displays. It is simple to prevent this. Do not use the HDMI monitor port on the tx unit. Use a simple HDMI 2:1 splitter BEFORE the tx unit with one side feeding your tv and the other the tx unit. Both tvs will then have their max res. The other complaint that some have made is that you need power on the rx box at the remote tv. I don't see this as an issue since you have to power the tv anyway, but for those wanting to use usb power, this is still possible. The rx box uses 5v power, so instead of using the supplied AC to 5v plugin, buy a usb cable with a 3.5 mm coaxial plug on it. You can then plug into a usb port for power. These are very common for camera and lighting equipment. If you don't (or can't) use a wireless HDMI extender, this is a good solution and I have had no issues.
