This sisal is a bright, cream color that to me seems brighter than other rope I have used. It's is a great size for a variety of projects from a simple scratch post to a fancier build. Good flexibility means you can get sharper corners and get it snugged tight to keep your project looking nice longer despite your cat's efforts to destroy it! (We really can't have nice things...) Fresh Sisal has a smell, and this rope is no different, but if you fan the roll out into a slinky Shape and set it in the sun for a day or two, it will dry it out and eliminate the smell. (It will go away on its own, but that will speed it up if you are sensitive to such things.) If you are getting it for non-cat uses, such as making a plant hanger or other crafts, I think you will appreciate the lighter color and ease of working with it as much as I did. Good rope, good price for sisal, really no complaints. Will pick up another roll or two to make a climbing wall for this hell-kitten that entered our home!

Sisal Rope for Cat Scratcher, Cymuber 6mm Cat Sisal Rope for Replace Scratching Post and Scratcher Repair, DIY Hemp Twine for Tree Tower Carpet Mat Kicker House Pet Toy and Crafts(164-Feet/50M)$19.99 ($0.12 / foot)This rope was very easy to work with (wear gloves) but it took a lot of wrapping to cover only a few feet of the one upright on my big cat scratcher because the diameter of the rope is smaller than what is usually used. It's not as prickly as the heavier rope. (I did not use the whole bundle, I got tired. I will probably end up using it all to finish the job pictured.) It has a little bit of a woody smell but that dissipated after a day or so. My cats are using it, that's all I care about.

I have four cats and three well-loved scratching posts around the house, so durable sisal rope is an absolute necessity. Once the original rope starts to fray and come loose, I know it’s time to re-wrap the entire post to keep it in good shape and avoid a total breakdown. This particular sisal rope is fantastic quality—it’s sturdy, tightly wound, and holds up incredibly well to daily clawing and climbing. My cats really love scratching this extra-thick rope and the color matches that of the original post perfectly.Even with all the wear and tear from my busy crew of felines, I can count on this rope lasting at least six months, if not longer, before it needs replacing again. It’s easy to work with and doesn’t shed excessively during the wrapping process. If you have cats and want to extend the life of your scratching posts, this is a reliable, cost-effective solution that definitely does the job.

My cat loves her rope scratching posts, so much that she destroys the rope wrapped around it. This, along with a glue gun, allows me to repair the scratching post by putting new rope on it. It saves me money because the alternative is to buy a whole new scratching post. While sisal rope is not soft, it’s not supposed to be, I believe this is high quality because it is strong and it can be handled without the splintering and the irritation normally associated with the rope, it also maneuvers easily – it wraps easily and stays close together on the post without excessive effort (the glue helps). The old rope I need to remove before doing this is not as easy to work with.I'd like to see different widths offered.I’ll be buying it again.

The cats around here are absolutely obsessed with their scratchers. Instead of tossing them when the rope gets shredded, I figured it would be easier (and way cheaper) to just re-wrap them. This sisal rope turned out to be perfect for the job. It’s nice quality, no weird smells, super sturdy, and the cats love it. It's real natural sisal, not that slick fake stuff. I had plenty to completely redo two of their smaller scratchers, and it seriously made them look brand new. I think the cats were even a little confused at first, like, “uh, why does my favorite thing look so fancy now?”When I first started, I forgot to wear gloves... yeah, not my best idea. The rope is a little rough (because it’s supposed to be!), and my hands definitely let me know about it. Once I threw some gloves on, it was smooth sailing and actually pretty relaxing to wrap.If you’ve got scratchers that are looking a little sad (and a house full of scratch-happy cats like me), this rope is absolutely the way to go. Plus, now I’m side-eyeing all the furniture legs like... what else can I wrap before they "customize" it for me?Bonus: The cats immediately inspected my work like tiny foremen. I'm still waiting for my performance review, but so far, no complaints — just a lot of proud scratching.

The rope is of decent quality and the cats seem to like it. It's very rough/coarse and I'd strongly heed their recommendations to use gloves. My only big complaint is that it's NOT odorless. It has a strong odor that fills the room but it's not too unpleasant. I imagine it's the byproduct or natural oils of the sisal plant or other manufacturing things, but it's not odorless. The cats aren't upset, however, but it's an important detail nonetheless.A minor complaint is that the item description states: "DIY Hemp Twine for Tree Tower Carpet ..." It seems the item is made entirely from sisal, not sisal and hemp. Hemp is slightly softer than sisal and not as scratchy and they're not the same plant at all, so clarification is needed on the item description.
