I replaced our wall mounted compressor with this one in the shop. Because of it's design, it has compressed a variety of struts securely

I have a few older BMW cars and an older Yukon, and neede to install new coilovers / struts / springs. I took my components to the local tire shop and they charged me 180 bucks to assemble the four new struts and springs. I also help out my family, friends, and neighbors with car repairs.Instead of paying another 360 bucks to change out my cars suspensions, I ordered this strut spring compressor and did it myself. Assembly was not difficult, and the instructions provided were adequate. After about 30 minutes of unboxing and assembly, I put together two sets of 8 total struts, and boy was it easy!No more wrenching on the cheap and dangerous spring compressors available at auto parts stores and online, that can slip and remove your fingers or worse! The Jacktech SK-3000 Strut Compressor is a professional assembly that is the right tool for the right job of disassembling and assembling many various kinds of struts/springs for late model vehicles. After doing it the dangerous and hard way three times in the past, I can't believe I didn't but this sooner!Highly Recommended for DIY home and pro shops.Try to buy it on sale to save a bit!

I thought it was expensive but I needed something easier, safer and faster than what I was using. This thing works great for taking the springs off utv shocks. Impressed!

Much easier than suffering through those screw type threaded rod compressors!I've done more spring swaps on 4th gen Firebirds and Camaros than I care to count. I have always used the screw type compressors, but it's slow, tedious, and just one slip or broken bolt away from injury or death every time you use them. I decided to try this as it is the most competitively priced DIY option. The compressor showed up well boxed, with packaged sub assemblies inside of Styrofoam. It was extremely easy and straight forward to put together with no tools required. It appears to be sturdy, and the cast parts are all nicely powdercoated. Bolts and threads run well and didn't have any burrs or defects. The return spring could have been implemented better, but works just fine, if a little noisy.I put it to use on stock height springs off of a 1999 Firebird Formula, this compressor was able to handle them with ease, there was no deflection, odd noises, or failure of any sort during initial use. However on heavy duty springs, turning the handles can be difficult, and requires standing on the base to prevent it from toppling over. This can be a little nerve wracking as you are standing almost directly over the compressed strut! My only complaint is that it would be helpful to have bolt holes or a bracket cast into the base to allow customers to bolt it down to concrete or another stronger/larger base for ease of use.

Unit very easy to assemble. Finished assembling struts and it was infinitely safer than using standard 2 piece spring compressor. The SK3000 has a learning curve as I found after several attempts to keep the spring centered over the strut. Easy to compress the spring (heavy spring on Cadillac DTS V8). Was able to center compressed spring on strut and assemble on 6th attempt. Second spring completed on second attempt.Ratchet action on gear house works well. Holds well and releases easily.Stand is a bit short and would work more easily if the base is attached to floor.Instruction Manual is poorly written and could use proofreading.
