These are substantial, heavy duty, self closing hinges. The finish on the metal is consistent and should remain rust free. Minor complaints would be the screws, however the number per hinge should make up for the smaller screws. The screws are not countersunk which does bother me a bit but overall the quality is very good.

Haven't had a chance to install these yet but they look very robust. Should keep the deck gate closed so it doesn't blow int he wind.

1: In Action: Heavy duty coil leaf springs. This is supposed to be some kind of aluminum alloy so we don’t expect rust. Must be adjusted after installed so you might want another set of hands during install.2: Why do we want it? We are using on a 4’ wide, 15 lb steel rail gate and need a strong enough hinge to handle the width. We have other hinges on a lot of our gates that we like and are very expensive but are not as loaded as these, which cost about the same. These are much more heavy duty.3: Unboxing: Comes in a box with screws.4: Instructions: Follow them on the listing as they are not included in the box. You may not understand them without looking at the listing.5: Install: 10 minutes.Pros: Look good. Tall but narrow. These are heavy duty leaf springs like those made for very big commercial doors.Cons: None as yet.

First off the screws were smaller than I thought appropriate for the size and potential strength of the hinge. I had bigger screws but the holes in the hinge are small and would have required drilling to make them work. I decided to go with the provided screws. It worked out fine. The 70-pound wooden gate swings like a champ. The hinges are snug and able to handle the stress. I did beef up the fasteners on the slat they are screwed to since the screws are not deep in the post . The spring closes the gate with enough force to close without fear of hurting an animal or small child. All in all I am satisfied and will move on to the next project with peace of mind.

These are definitely meant for heavy duty applications. The metal thickness exceeds standard hinges And I estimate the surface area does as well. The pan head screws included are smaller than expected (about 1 inch long and thin) but there are 8 per hinge which should be fine in most situations. Holes for the screws aren’t countersunk which I prefer, especially for such thick metal but everyone I different.

These latches are very large and heavy duty. They would work for most any gate or door you need to keep closed. I would probably recommend using longer screws for added security but otherwise these are great.

These hinges are the real deal! We used them along with 2 others per door to close huge barn doors and they don't close the barn doors but make it easier to close them. They are made of thick steel and the springs truly are strong for the size of hinge. If you are going to overbuild your door then these are the hinges you want to use. I would acquire and install these all over again! They're built Farm Tough! We gave them FIVE STARS!
