This sliding bolt gate latch works just as needed. The finish is nice, solid black with no rust so far. It is made of quality metal and has some heft to it. I like the notch where you can add a lock. I just use a carabiner as I don't need it locked, just secured to keep the excited dogs from accidentally bumping it open. The screws were plenty long so no worries of them pulling out as the wood dries. Overall, it's a solid product at a good price.

This is far and away a better latch than I had on my fence gate previously. My gates are large and heavy, each one is 5'x6', built with 2"x4" treated lumber for the frames and the support trusses re heavy metal 90-degree corner hardware. I am able to latch the 2 gates together and feel very secure that they will hold against any normal intrusion.

Functions perfectly. The build quality is solid and the simple design makes it fairly fool proof. Installation was easy. Used on the door of my chicken coop and it's perfect. Worth the money.

Goat proof slide bolt! Holds our 2 x 4 gate without issues. Installed easily. Only issue was when it was originally cast. The “U” portion of the bolt is difficult to drop over the lock portion where we secure it with a carabiner. It will work and I’m hoping with use it’ll listen up.

It’s pretty hard to go wrong with a simple piece of hardware like this. The price is about what you’d pay at any hardware store. The finish is good, no chips or dings or bad welds. It comes with all the hardware you need for installation. I put it on our side gate and it keeps it closed, and I don’t feel like it does a worse job than any other latch in this category would.
