It is very similar if not identical to those that I have purchased at the big box stores in the past. The metal is thick and strong, and the finish is great. The hardware that was included amounts to 5 small screws which are inadequate for mounting this latch. You’ll want to pick up some bolts(either lag or carriage) for mounting the latch. The bolt receiver could be mounted with the screws but it wouldn’t hold a lot of force. So depending on the level of security that you want, those are the options. We usually just drill a hole in the adjoining post to accept the bolt. The locking tabs are large enough to accept a fairly big lock. The price is very reasonable compared to box stores. I’m happy with this purchase.

Easy to install. Make sure it's on a gate that won't move when the ground shifts. Keeps my pasture walk thru gate secure from animals getting out.

This was much larger than I was thinking it would be. I apparently didn't read the details very well. But it works great for a door that's been needing a new lock. Easy to install and very heavy duty.

I needed to find an inexpensive way to secure the gate on our stockade fence. This DURIGID Slide Bolt Gate Latch ($10 in October 2024) fit the bill perfectly. Once I grabbed my trusted Switchdriver (cordless screwdriver with two heads) and my little rolling stool and hobbled out to the gate, it only took a few minutes to install this latch. Would have gone faster if I had noticed the knot hole in the picket before I got starter but . . . oh, well. Finished the job in less than ten minutes. Easy peasy. I feel much better knowing the dog isn't likely to do a bolt-and-run the next time the wind blows.

This slide bolt latch looks good in a crisp black, and it works smoothly. It is just a very tiny bit smaller than other similar sized latches, but the difference is almost negligible so I'm not concerned. The screws are a decent quality, but be aware that the screws for the receiver bracket are slightly smaller than the other screws for some reason (they really should be the same size to offer similar strength). Overall, it's a good latch.
