No instructions provided, 2 metal pieces don’t fit and seems like pieces maybe missing. The only way it works is to set it on the ground to close the sliding glass door. It wasn’t sturdy weight to place it in the middle, which would be more secure. If you pull hardly on the door the security guard will fall and the door can be open. Not what I expected.

When I moved to a warmer climate many years ago, I decided that I would not tolerate a room with small windows or limited glass to view the outside. Why have a nice view and not enjoy it? With that comes the need to secure sliding doors and windows. For years, I have used plastic wood pieces cut down to size and painted as needed. When I saw this security bar from Supforce, I decided to give them a look. This security bar is very versatile and can secure a space between 17 inches and 55 inches. It comes in a few pieces of tubing (a couple fixed, one adjustable) that you can mix together to build the length you need. Both ends have rubber bumpers to protect the door or window frames. Not much to say about usage. Working with the pieces, assemble them to fit closely to the width you want to protect and then use the end screw to make the final adjustments for a snug fit. It’s that easy.In summary, for the cost, these are simple devices that you can use to secure the closure of a window or door. Easy to use. Very highly recommended.

Easy assembly and easy to use! I purchased this because my 2 year old grandson figured out how to unlock my sliding door and just go out to the backyard. I can position it at any height which I need to do because he will figure out how to remove it from the track! Great product! Definitely recommend it!

We got this to lock one of our windows that has a portable AC unit installed. There were no directions in the box but assembly and usage is straightforward so that wasn’t a big deal. It comes in multiple pieces so it just takes a few minutes to see how it all goes together.Due to the multiple pieces, it does have a large effective range for openings it will fit. We needed it to be about 19” so we only needed one of the three pieces but it can easily extend out to the 55” it claims as the maximum. The clip that needs to be pushed in to adjust the height of the bar was very hard to push in the first time to adjust the height. I had to use a screwdriver to apply enough pressure to get it to adjust. I was worried that would be needed for every adjustment but after that initial adjustment it was easy to push in and adjust with just a finger. I’m guessing it just got a little jammed in transit and worked itself back to normal with the first adjustment.Once installed, it is more than strong enough to ensure the window can’t be opened from the outside. The adjusting screw makes it so it fits very snug and the material, while not the thickest metal, is plenty strong to resist the vertical force needed to bend it. Someone would have to break the window itself in order to remove it from the outside. It is well worth the price for the adjustability and added safety it provides.

When I was a kid my mom would always save the wooden part of a broken or worn out broom. She's ask me to go out in to the garage and saw off the wooden pole. When I brought it back into the house, she would measure it along the width of a window, put a pencil mark on it and then ask me to go back into the garage and cut it where she put the mark. She was using these old broom handles as window locks. After a while we had a whole selection of them. Shorter ones for summer when we wanted the window pretty much open and longer ones for the winter months when we wanted to window only open an inch or two. One drawback of having several different lengths on broom handles in the coat closet is that every once in a while, we would reach for a coat and they would all fall out. And, of course, they would roll... usually rolling until they wound up way under a table were it required getting on one's hands and knees to retrieve the darn thing. Now, why am I taking you down memory lane with me ? Because I don't have to do this any more. This window lock I just got is ADJUSTABLE ! In other words, no more saving old broom handles and sawing them to fit the windows. This ONE lock works on any window in the house and during any season. Amazing. I'm getting four more. One last note of interest. I admire this incredibly diligent company. These guys are world's champion package wrappers. I mean it came in a box inside a bigger box which was filled with crinkled up brown paper so the smaller box didn't get shaken up. Plus, inside the smaller box, each length of metal pole was individually wrapped in padded plastic to protect them from scratching each other. Wow.It is very sturdy and will last a long time. It was manufactured well. And kudo's the the shipping department !
