It has a clear top with plenty of ventilation holes for fresh air, and it came with a bottle that attaches to one of the vents. At first, I placed the bottle inside, but then I noticed a small hole on one side and realized I could mount the bottle outside while placing the spout through this hole. This way, my little rattie can drink without being able to chew on the bottle itself. The spout is made of clear glass, so I have to be careful with it.I fill the bottle about 90% full and give it a gentle shake to eliminate air bubbles in the spout, so it drips when my rattie wants to drink. The carrier has a foldable handle, with both the handle and base in a cute soft pink color. The transparent top has a lid I can lock and is approximately 6 inches wide. The base measures about 7 1/2 inches wide, 6 7/8 inches deep, and 6 inches tall. It has rounded corners and I can quickly throw out old bedding during cleaning. I think it's ok for short trips like vet visits but I wouldn't use it for hour-long rides as it is quite small.

We selected this with the intention of using it to take our Russian dwarf to the vet if needed or while changing the cage. He was a very small hamster and would be scared easily. If he heard my voice, he was fine. We placed him in this during his cage changing and he seemed a lot happier and not as nervous. Sadly, we were only able to use it once. He passed shortly after we used this, it was not due to the cage, we knew we rescued him, and he came with health issues. We gave him the best life we could and in the short time he was here, he bonded with us and knew he was loved. We are going to hold onto this as we do animal rescue and might need it for another animal in the future. It is well made and easy to clean.

There's a few things that need to change. I have two gerbils and I like using this to hold them while I clean their cage. However, the front door is super flimsy especially at the hinge. It doesn't open smoothly and I have to fight with it to get it to open without breaking. Once it breaks the whole carrier will be useless. The water bottle also needs a design change. Once those pieces that keep it on the cage snap from taking it on and off or are chewed through by hamsters or gerbils etc, it won't be able to hang anymore and therefore the animal won't be able to drink from it, even if the bottle is in the cage with them. The straw itself needs to be metal. Rodents will chew right through that straw and and the bottle will be useless. Although the carrier is flimsy plastic too, it should be fine for short carry times. I wouldn't use it for extended travel though unless you plan never to use it again. They will chew right through by the end of the day or a few depending on the attitude of the animal and what kind it is. The plastic clasp for the door also sticks inside the carrier, so the rodent can chew on it. This means that once that is loose enough, the rodent will be able to get out through the door. From the design of the clip, I'd say a persistent rodent can chew through and open that door in about 30 minutes if they chose to chew on that enticing inward projection.Disclaimer: Although I received this product free of charge, I still have to pay taxes on it, as it is viewed as income via a 1099. Everyone can therefore rest assured that this review is my honest experience with this item.

Very nice and cute travel size cage. I only gave it 2 stars because my dwarf hamsters 🐹 bit a good size whole and escaped.I bought both the blue and pink cage. I put 2 dwarf hamsters in each. I was suppose to gift them the day after, luckily we found all 4 in the afternoon. If your animals are aggressive or energetic I do not recommend, but if they are calm. I would recommend this product. I have used them with other hamsters without any issue. The quality is okay, the door does get stuck, needs improvement.

Very small cage, definitely only appropriate for temporary transport. Super cute though, door opens easily and closes tight. Love how deep the floor is, all the bedding you can lay down will act as a shock absorber. Good size for mice and hamsters. Even came with a little water bottle, so cute!

My daughter owns a pygmy hamster. As far as small critters go it's the smartest little thing, and sweet to boot! She loves it, and so do I, so we're always looking for upgrades for her. One of our carriers had broken, another one just didn't lock reliably, so I had my eyes out for a replacement. When I saw this listing I had to try it.I thought there would be some assembly required, but other than flipping the lid over and setting up the water bottle there was nothing to assemble! I'm always happy about that. It's a great size for a pygmy hamster. I believe it would fit a regular hamster comfortably, but since we don't own one I can't swear I'm picturing them correctly. It's light weight but feels fairly sturdy. It's nothing we're going to drop or toss around, but it feels like it would take a fall or two without too much loss.I removed one star because of the bottle design. There's no "stop" in the bottle neck for the water bearing at the bottle end; because of this the ball fell out and rendered the bottle unusable. We had to rig a bottle from another carrier into this one.Overall this is a decent little carrier. Be aware of the bottle design and make sure you're careful not to lose the bearing when you're pulling it out of the box. For the price I think it's a good value.
