This little usb c portable headphone amp is actually very simple, but at the same time quiete amazing. If you have a cell phone and want better sound, or a crappy amplifier chip on your computer, any tablet, this will give you really good sound through your headphones. Be careful to make sure the volume on the device is all the way down and don't put the headphones on until you test the volume or you'll get a wicked surprise. This little tiny thing has come juice. It drove my Abyss Diana Phi headphones ( I didn't try it with my 1266s) with no problem and they were fine with it.

This is no doubt a piece of kit only audiophiles would invest in, given the price. I am an average music enjoyer, however, but even I can appreciate the upgrade this portable amplifier provides. As a high level overview,The packaging is simple, with no instructions - although the products volume slider and three ports don't need much introduction. The build quality is better than expected, by far among the best on the market. I love the all metal build and tactile buttons. There is a small glass window on the front with the back being entirely glass, allowing you to view the hardware inside. This classy touch adds to the premium feel, although the blue connection light may be distracting to some. This product boosts the soundstage of my headphones, I can hear each instrument with greater separation and clarity. Bass is more impactful with this amp, too. Detailed review below:Reviewed with the Sony h.ear on 3.When connected to my phone wirelessly, the audio from my drivers is more than acceptable, it's rather high quality, with a relatively open sound stage and good clarity. When connected via a line directly from 3.5mm to usb-c however, audio quality nosedives. I presume most using wired connection to headphones will be using that type of connection, one that greatly limits the quality of the headphone sound. This is an experience you will find across the board with common wires.Compared to another brand's 3.5mm + usb-c charging attachement (two ports), the audio quality then increases to a better level. I would argue this type of attatchment is midrange, priced at £9.This attachment is what most people would expect of their headphones, enjoyable and clear audio. This compared to the direct usb-headphone is like night and day. Now, on to this portable amp. The comparison between the dual attachement and this is very tangible. The soundstage is certainly more open, with a much greater separation of instruments and overall greater immersion. Each beat sounds more impactful and intentional than through other mediums. Would I say it is 8x the quality of the mid-range option, no. But as with most things, what you spend isn't a uniform scale with the quality. There is a very slight, faint static sound when music pauses for a beat - although this can't be heard when no music is playing so I am unsure what causes this. Conclusion: This is a must buy for those with expensive headphones, or those who have purchased high quality music services. If you're an audiophile, you already know you want this, if you're an average music enjoyer like myself - perhaps the biggest put off is the price, as everything else can't be knocked.

I tested this with the USB C port of a standard, inexpensive Android phone ("Blackview" is the brand) that I use as an audio streamer. I used Thieaudio Oracles, Dunu DaVinci, Sennheiser IE600 (all mid to high end IEMs), and for kicks, my Sennheiser HD600s full size headphones. All of them were plugged into the 4.4mm port.In every case, the sound was essentially indistiguishable from my desktop amp (Schiit Magnius) and portable amp (Fiio Q5). There are a lot of dongles out there in this price range of $70-$100, and I'm willing to bet that no one could tell them apart in a blind test. So in terms of sound, this one is good, but they all are. If someone tells you this is "bright" or "warm" or whatever, they probably would not be able to tell the difference in a blind test and are adding their own feelings onto their apppraisal. And if there is a difference, it's going to be incredibly subtle and immaterial to mostly everybody. The advantage of this device over something like an Apple dongle is the ability to use your headphones and IEMs that are cabled with a 4.4mm balanced jack. And there's apparently up to an entire half a watt of output into 32 ohms, which puts full size headphones in reach. Definitely, if your headphone comes standard with a 3.5mm jack, this device will drive it well. But it also had no problem driving my HD600s, which doesn't happen with something like the built in jack on a phone. For a headphone like that, which comes with a 1/4 inch jack, you will need an adapter or new cables (if you want to use the 4.4mm jack, you need balanced cables, about $30-$40).The 500mw of output comes with battery drain. In my testing, the battery drained about 25-30% faster than it does when using a separately powered amp. So in my case, I normally get about 12 hours of playback, and with the SMSL attached it was closer to 8. Some of that battery energy goes into heat, as the device gets reasonably warm to the touch. And it seemed to be warm even when nothing was playing, so from that I infer that it will drain the battery if plugged in even when not in use. I did test using a small powered hub to inject power while connected, but the device failed to work when the hub was powered. The hub did work, however, when not powered, but that defeated the point of the hub.Of course if you're using this with a plugged in laptop or PC, you don't have to worry about battery drain. But if you travel and want to use this with your phone, you might need to charge up more frequently than you're used to.Another tiny issue is the pair of internal LEDs. There's one on each side and they are very bright! When using this at night in bed, I had to cover it up beacuse it lit up the entire room. But that's a small niggle. The device feels very solid and well made. The windows are a visual treat, and the sculptured surface of the device provdes tactile feedback making it very easy to find the volume button without looking. The volume button is digital, which means there is no visual indication of the volume level as there would be with an analog knob (which is what my other portable DAC amp has). But the buttons provide a fine amount of adjustment without being tedious. In general, I dislike digital volume adjustment buttons, but these are better than most. All in all, I have a very favorable impression of this device. It's not my first item from S.M.S.L. They are a known company in the audio world and have a good reputation. It's well made, very simple, and very capable. The sound is as it should be. If your devices are all cabled with 3.5mm jacks, I'm not sure this would be better than the Apple dongle. But if you have balanced devices or more power hungry headphones, this would be a good choice. It's certainly more fun!

Premessa. Sorgente: Smartphone Samsung A54 (batteria da 5000mAh);Brano musicale "Hell bells" degli AC/DC (file FLAC 44.1kHz 16bit)App musicale: Onkyo HF Player Full version;Cuffia 1ª prova: Sennheiser HD380 Pro (Chiusa, 54 Ohm, SPL 110 dB, FR 8-27.000 Hz) su porta sbilanciata Jack 3.5mm;Cuffia 2ª prova: Sennheiser HD660s2 (Aperta, 300 Ohm, SPL 104 dB, FR 8-41.500 Hz) su porta bilanciata Pentaconn 4.4mm

This DAC works great. It comes with a usbc-to-usbc cable, so if you want to connect the DAC to your older iphone, you will need to provide your own usbc-to-lightning DAC cable. For performance, at $70, this little guy surely delivers. You can't compare this to $250 usb DACs, but for simliar ones in the same category, this DAC performs well.

This is my second DAC for my iPhone 15 and it's been great. A decent DAC will cost a little money, but it's worth it if you want good sound. I use it regularly and have had zero problems. It couldn't be easier to use. Plug and play. Seems like a great value. Would recommend.

I was not prepared for the SMSL D10 headphone dac/amp. When I opened the box, I found a tiny DAC. It's smaller than my thumb just to put it in perspective. I plugged it into my iPhone with the included mini USB-C cable and got out my trusty Sennheiser HD660s that have a balanced 4.4 cable. I wasn't expecting a lot because these are 150-ohm headphones. To my surprise, this little amp drove them with authority. Does it hit like my THX AAA 789? No, but it's completely portable! There aren't any directions included. The larger plug is for a 4.4 mm balanced connector, and the other is for a normal 3.5. The DAC has glass on the front and back, giving it a cool industrial vibe. There is a small LED on the front, which is the only indicator on the DAC.Overall, this is an amazing little DAC and the price is perfect. Do not hesitate on this one.

Very sturdy and attractive unit. Connects tightly and sounds great, indistinguishable from the FIIO dongle I have that cost more money. Design is interesting. A solid buy for the price, enjoying it immensely. Battery drain on attached device is about what is to be expected. Dual jack is a nice bonus.

I'm going to keep this simple, it's have the kiwi allegro and the letshour dt03 which are this dongles direct competitors at this price. They all sound very good for the price but they each mostly excel in one area. The dt03 does sub bass the best, it's super deep and very clean. The Allegro does mids the best, mid bass is clean and vocals sound full. This dongle does the treble area the best, the treble is clean and it gives music more energy. Each dongle does what i mention about them the best but do the other things well enough. This and the Allegro don't go very deep with sub bass. The dt03 and this dongle don't have the fullest vocals compared with the Allegro. The Allegro and dt03 have a relaxed treble compared to this dongle. They all sound very good if you are not directly comparing to anything so but which one is better depends on your preferences, i personally prefer sub bass so I like the dt03 the most. The build quality is very nice, it's made of sturdy metal and i like the open glass design. This is the smallest dongle of the ones I mentioned. The dongle kind of looks like the questyle m12i, the m12i sounds better than any of these by the way. The m12i does bass, mids and treble flawlessly.Overall this is a good dongle if you like more energy in your music which is basically more upper mids and treble.
