I got this mat to use as a slow feeder for my cats, rather than as a licking pad for my dog. With other maze-type cat slow feeders the depressions were too deep for my cats to get the small pieces of food out, and they would leave a fair amount of it. This mat has depressions that are just right--they are either shallow or deep but wide--so my cats can eventually eat all of the food I put down. I recommend this product.

I have a new puppy who inhales his food and then runs to my other dog to eat from her food bowl. I started feeding him with this lick mat and it has dramatically slowed his game. My other pup finishes her meal well before he finishes. Also, when he is done eating, he likes to carry the mat around with him and chew on it (a big deal since he is teething and wants to chew on me, wood, rocks, anything that he fancies). The mat is easy to clean with a brush cleaner in the sink or in the dishwasher and I love the color. I'm very happy with this lick mat. :-)
