I bought these for my aging German shepherd who is starting to drag his hind legs. It works well for a while, so this plastic is what scrapes on the ground instead of his nails. The problem is that, once the plastic grinds down and gets to his nails, you can’t just take off what’s left of the plastic since it’s essentially super glued to his nails. I just have to wait for his nails to grow out, but at this point his nails are scraping and grinding on the ground again, and I can’t put more of these plastic nails on until the nails grow and the rest of the plastic is ground down.

*Update to the update*I wanted to go ahead and update this review because I’m going to say the 2 caps that fell off were because of user error. We are going on week 4 and she still has all the other caps on her nails! If they haven’t fallen off by week 6 I will remove them myself to replace but I checked them today and they are holding strong! I am still loving these, they are still protecting my furniture and I will continue to buy them! 5 ⭐️*UPDATE*We got these a week ago and since then 2 of the caps have fallen off but they still seem to do their job? Moved to 4 ⭐️ since they are already falling off 😔*ORIGINAL*These were delivered yesterday and I couldn’t wait to get them on. We recently rescued a kitten who is now 4m and loves to use my couches as her scratching post 😩. I needed to find a solution and these were it since I refuse to declaw. They were super simple to get on and it’s been a day so far, they are holding strong. She hasn’t been able to scratch the couch like usual so it’s a step in the right direction and I’m really happy with them. I will update this review should any issues arise so I can give the most accurate review but as of right now, 5 ⭐️

I used them with no problems at all, my dog never even noticed they were there. My dog tends to slip a lot on the tile floors in my house, his natural reaction when he starts to slip is to try to dig his claws on the tile which actually makes it worse. I thought maybe these would help with grip on the tile as the silicone like material would provide more grip. They worked even better than I thought they would! He has not fallen once since I put the nail caps on. It's been 2 months now and every single nail cap is still on.

Fantastiche! Consiglio!!

I really love these little caps! I got them to put on my 10yo standard poodles back feet to give him some extra grip on the hardwood floor after I saw him tweak his hip from slipping while playing. It definitely helped him and they were easy to put on and clip off. His stayed on for weeks, he only lost a few and the remaining ones came off easily on the next nail trim. We have a pet door and he’s in/out all day. They got a bit muddy but no more than his normal nails did, there wasn’t ever any indication moisture or mud caused him discomfort when wearing these caps. I used them on my hounds back feet recently as well and I have been thrilled with the results for her- she has terrible skin allergies and scratches herself raw. She’s very bad for getting her nails trimmed, so I’m unable to file them and they stay sharp after clipping, leading her to carve herself up like a Christmas ham the first opportunity she gets. Even though she is horrible for getting her nails done, she was absolutely marvelous for letting me put on these caps and it made an immediate difference in how much damage she caused when scratching. It’s definitely going to become part of our nail care routine to keep her back feet from being so sharp and to improve her confidence and trust when having her feet handled. Next time we are going for a cute color to make the whole experience more fun for me, so it’s more fun for her! These are nice to have around when you need them! When applying, just take into consideration your pets nail length and comfort. Check the nails every day for a few days after application to make sure everything is good and comfortable.Pictured: my female Ibizan hounds back foot with claw caps and front feet withoutUpdate: since my initial review I have been nothing but pleased with these caps! They stay on for weeks at a time when an appropriate amount of glue is used at the nail tip. I ordered sparkly gold for fun so I could doll up my hound- these caps have sincerely helped reduce her skin irritation when itching, and keeps those sharp claws I can’t file at bay so she doesn’t scratch me or the other dogs or blankets, etc. I love these!! I ordered a size too small in the gold, but they are staying on nicely and still cover those sharp tips to keep my baby safe.

Came with 3 tubes of glue. All were dried out. Edit: so i bought some crazy glue and gave it a whirl. its not easy to judge how much glue to use, but application was straightforward otherwise. 2 people required: one to handle the glue and nails, one to keep puppy still. The nails looked kinda funny at first but they grew on us. They started falling off the next day however, probably because I didn't use enough glue. The package came with extra nail caps so I may try again before we refinish our floors.

I want to preface this review by saying that I have a 60lb, 2 year-old Belgian Malinois who is very HIGHLY active. His high energy often translates into jumping up when greeting people or when he gets overly excited (as when he's playing). This isn't usually much of an issue, but I live with two elderly people with paper-thin skin and he has cut them several times simply by grazing them.I was a little skeptical about these at first, but after about two weeks I'm sold. The vinyl caps apply easily (though I'm still not entirely comfortable using what basically amounts to superglue on my pet) and so far, only one has come off. I was worried that my dog would try to chew them off, but he only sniffed at them a little before going about his regular activities once the adhesive had dried. The only real irritation I have with these so far is how ambiguous the sizing is. If you go to the soft-claws website, they do have a sizing chart that you can print out and match to your dog's nail size, which helps. I almost ordered two sizes too small because I couldn't believe my lithe little dog needed and XXL in anything--he barely wears a medium-sized collar! I'm glad I did check the site, though, because the XXL fits nearly perfectly, and I would rather have them slightly large than too small. They also don't look nearly as ridiculous in person as they do in the example picture. I hardly even notice them unless I'm checking my dog's feet deliberately.Though they are on the expensive side, I have found only the front claw covers are necessary at any one time, so one box should last quite awhile. They are less expensive through Amazon than the manufacturer's site, and if you have Prime, the free shipping makes it a clear choice who to order from. The only remaining concern I have is about trimming his nails. They say in their literature that these can last well over a month, which is fine, but I'd rather not go quite that long without trimming my dog's nails. It does say you can dissolve the adhesive with acetone nail polish remover, but I'm less inclined to put that on my dog's feet than I was the superglue, so I suppose we'll see.Overall, a good product that satisfies my needs, with minor reservations.FOLLOW-UP 4/18/2014: Several months in, and these are still performing well. A couple of usage notes, though:1) Even though it's tempting to put more than the two drops of adhesive the instructions call for into the cap, they become almost impossible to remove. We're on our second round, and while they do come off more frequently only using 2/3 drops, I'd rather replace them more frequently than have to subject my dog to discomfort (and peeling nails) to get them off when his nails need to be trimmed.2) To get them off the dog's feet, if they haven't come off on their own, the best bet is to trim off the very end of the nail cap, enough that the end of their natural nail is exposed to the air. IF they don't slide off then and there, let the dog run around for a day or two and that natural air channel should loosen or remove the cap on its own.Tried using the acetone to remove the first round (which were really, REALLY stuck on tight), and the amount it took to get the thing off was ridiculous, not something I'm willing to subject my dog (or myself) to ever again. Trust me, use less adhesive and be patient. It works out better for you and the dog, even if you do have to replace the caps a little more frequently.

I have to say, doh on this one. My cat is 17 yrs old. We've had a lot of ruined sofas and carpeting. A LOT. Why did I wait so long to try these nail caps out??? Had to take kitty to vet this week and the pretty pink caps got their seal of approval, so much so they took a pic of her toes and posted it on the practice web site / facebook. Once they were placed on kitty's nails, she hardly noticed them. And they go great with her pink collar and grey fur :)
