I purchased this set to help keep raccoons out of my yard and away from my pond. I have tried almost every trick I could find over the past 15 years, but the raccoons are smart, determined, and very destructive. They manage to get through every barrier and trap. This item is basically an alarm that scares them from the area. The motion sensor covers a fairly large area, so 2 of them placed strategically seem to cover all the areas where the raccoons are entering the yard. Because raccoons are smart, they will get accustomed to certain alarms within just a few visits and therefore ignore the alarm. This unit has lots of annoying sounds and flashing lights, so you can change the sound weekly if needed. I have them both set to different sounds so the critter gets a different surprise as he moves around the yard. The "barking dog/gunshot" option seems to be working well without disturbing the neighbors. I also like that the alarm only screams for about 1 min. and then shuts off without having to find remote to turn it off like some others I have tried. So far the beasts have stayed away for a couple weeks. I am thinking of buying another set for the front and side yard to scare other intruders. I also like that you can set it to only operate at night. Good results for the price.

It has a wide coverage area and can protect my entire garden. It is also waterproof so it works perfectly even on rainy days. Definitely worth it!

Love it! These are great for home or camp. No electric needed and they are VERY LOUD.

This device was ordered to scare away deer. These devices do, as specified, trigger upon detecting motion within about 20 ft. of the sensor. They are very loud, but fortunately there is a volume control that is operable to reduce the volume of the racquet enough that the neighbors don't immediately complain. There is a large selection of sounds, but none of them seem like the best choice for scaring deer (as opposed to annoying people). Possibly the closest is the recording of sequential dog bark and distant gunshots. Unfortunately, gun fire is prohibited in our county and the local deer are clueless about the potential significance of distant gunshots (too dumb and no training to be afraid). The gunshots interrupt and likely detract from the effectiveness of the dog barks. There is a fog horn (our deer are clueless), birds (our deer are not afraid of birds), a lion yawning (lions unknown to the local deer), a bell and siren (excellent choice for annoying neighbors), and other funny or annoying sounds.Alas, there is no fierce dog bark or anything that sounds like a human yelling at deer, nor is there anything high pitched or ultrasonic that might selectively annoy, scare, or repel animals without upsetting our neighbors. One positive feature is that it can be programmed to only turn on when it is dark- that can also be something of a negative feature when visitors or the Amazon delivery man come in the evening- and be particularly unpopular with our neighbors. On a final note, this device can record and save one sound (although the instructions on how and what are minimal)- so you can record your own gut-wrenching animal chasing scream- or a solid fierce attacking dog bark, but not both (without erasing one or the other)- if you have time and the material to do so. It may or may not be possible to record an ultrasonic threat- but that would require finding and recording one.
