A little tricky to operate at first but easily learned. Chief virtue for me is that it has RCA audio outputs that can feed into receivers and amps that have RCA inputs. I have only one Blu-ray disc because of the ridiculous prices for most releases. What is great is that with a HD feature it enhances the audio of CDs and will play Pure Audio discs to rival SACD. Picture quality in HD, of course, at 1080i is far superior to 480p in resolution. Your DVDs will look better than ever,however. If you have a lot of videocassettes, depending how well you made recordings, these 00 will bnefit. The Sony s185 does the job.One thing, though, if hooked up to a VCR you cannot use a timer because if you shutdown the VCR, the screen goes off and will refuse to come back on. You will have to be content to record a show, switching from HD to 480p, at the time of recording. I understand it is possible to buy things to use WiFi but I am not interested in that; if I had I wouldn't have sought out this player.

much joy to have purchased this product, I was looking for a while and could not find something I liked and that both were useful, however, when I began to see that this product was available at a good price and that served me fully not what I thought and buy it immediately, I liked from the beginning, because it is wonderful to buy something you like and that in turn will be useful, widely recommend the use and purchase of the same, "eyes closed" amazon thanks for allowing me to have both product I wanted and expected!

This is my first Blue-ray player. It is working very well for me. It is a nice basic unit, which can be connected to the internet for online content. It does not have wi-fi, which could be important to some people, but is not necessary for me. Also, it is a little slow to start up, but this does not bother me. Overall a good player.

I returned this unit because it had no frontal display, which to me is a deal breaker. The company selling these through amazon, the factory depot, made me pay close to seventeen dollars to return it and then lied to me about issuing a refund. I had to file a claim to get my money back. So save yourself a lot of hassle and look at it in your local store first before you buy this as it is also much smaller and cheaper looking than it looks in the pictures provided here.

I didnt expect much from this DVD Blu Ray player for its price, I bought it just to see DVDs and take some experience in the Blu Ray world, unknown to me up to now. But the truth is that the player is superb, very very good video quality, and the plus the internet access, esay to reach and very good content.Only down comment, the pilot light is in the top, so when you see it from the front, you don't know if it is on or not. A minor thing anyway.Recommend it very much

There's nothing really wrong with this player, in fact there are more web-enabled features than I was expecting, but in hind-sight I wish I had paid a little more and gotten a player with better output options. For instance, this has a HDMI out, but not component out. I like HDMI, but with the stereo system I have now, component would have allowed me more flexibility.Perhaps I haven't read enough in the options, but even though I'm hard-wired into a router, every time I use Pandora it checks my Internet connection and I have to select 'OK' once it's done checking. I'd rather it just check, then connect me once it determines the connection is good. I also wish there was a favorites area - I listen to Pandora a lot, so would like not to have to scroll over and down every time I want to use it. Also wish there was some indicator as to whether each service is free or not.All in all, a good player at a good price

This relatively small BR DVD player, which I have alread dropped twice in my lab with NO damage, has ideal footprint. We've had 3 larger VHS SONY's, all served us well, until donated for BR capability. This unit performs faultlessly, with around-the-corner or handstanding remote reach! Highly useful in limited space. For nitpickers extreme, you might want longer cables, but not necessary for bedside or coffee table placement. Controls are simplified. The price is lower than most we reviewed- and with twice the performance than the others.

I am so glad I got this player! It far exceeded my expectations. First the size amazed me. So compact, it really looks great on my multi media rack. Plus with the use of wireless adaptors working with my home electrical wiring, I didn't need to run cables to use the Internet features. It was the easiest setup I've ever done! I love being able to view Netflix and YouTube with great quality on my tv screen. BluRay disks play wonderfully through this. And the volum control on the remote for me tv saves me juggling remotes. For the price you can NOT beat this deal, plus free shipping! I'm getting another one for another room!
