I have had multiple Sony Bluray players over the years. My main one started getting balky for Netflix and Amazon streaming, so I decided to replace it. This refurbished one was so much cheaper than comparable new models that I thought it worth giving a try. While I've only just gotten it, I'm not disappointed. Setup took just a few minutes and the remote and interface are quite simple (and haven't changed much over the years). I was up on my wireless network and connected my Netflix and Amazon accounts in no time. Even the software update, which many reviews on these refurbished models complain about, was simple and fast--all done automatically over the WiFi. My only complaint with the process is that it's something of a pain to type in emails and passwords using the remote control and having the passwords hidden with ***** adds to the challenge.

Bought in December. Worked fine until May and now doesn't work at all. Powers on but does not work. Should last longer than 6 months.

Please note that this product listing is for refurbished Sony players from 2015 being sold in 2017. Why would someone buy a used two-year-old DVD player? The best answer I can give is to save money. I have bought dozens of refurbished high-tech products and not one of them has failed to perform as new and as a rule of thumb I generally get them for half price or better. This particular model happens to be one of a top of line series that is still very desirable and still selling new for a lot more. And the current version has changed very little.Another rule of thumb I've learned is that refurbs either are in good condition and work perfectly right out of the box or they don't and if they don't it is easy to exchange it. Mine looked perfect and was likely an unused open box unit. It works perfectly. Here's a little-known hint how to tell if a refurb unit is new or was a heavily used piece of equipment - look at the rubber feet. That's something they won't replace. If the feet look perfectly new the chances are the unit has never been used. To a lesser degree also check the push button controls. It is almost impossible to clean them up to look new once they have been used a few times.Whether you buy any new tech product new or refurbed it is always a wise choice to update it to the latest software/firmware before you do anything else. As soon as I plugged it in this unit prompted me to do just that.I got this model for my bedroom TV, a Sony, so it isn't my primary household player. My bedroom TV is a late model that has Triluminos so this model was a great match, it even makes old DVD's look stunning. My TV only has 2 HDMI inputs so the baked-in apps of this player replaced a popular streaming media adapter and allows me to wirelessly access a vast array of services including Amazon Prime. While every DVD player I've ever seen also plays audio CD's this one plays almost any format commonly used even some very obscure ones. Sony adds an audio player app to make it easier, which works out perfectly bedroom entertainment. Since both the TV and the player are both Sony they can share the same remote control and the player activates certain audio/video setups on the TV automatically.I did a lot of research for the best bang for the buck and I am convinced that at this point in time this is it.

Wifi only works when it wants to. Hard wired from router works better but still has connection issues. With the hard wire connection I have to unplug power for 10 seconds then retest the connection in the setting in order to get it to work.

Great little player, my only complaint is that it has a hard time picking up the wireless signal on my internet... even when it is right next to my extremely powerful router. So we aren't able to use things like Netflix or VUDU like we should.

Great player with lots of features in a small footprint. Great value for the price and facilitates screen mirror option from my phone so I can play netflicks from my phone to my tv.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box is how light and small it was, guess I was expecting bigger and heavy, so that was cool that it was so small. It came with everything except batteries for the remote which I expected batteries for it because for electronics like this batteries usually come with remote, small thing though. Plugged it in and turned on and did the setup in less than 5 min. Then started looking at the menu with all the apps, really cool and it has a favorites box. Only thing I'm not sure on is how to unpin an app put in the favorites box? I took pics of favorites box with my favs in it and the only things I use, Netflix, Amazon and VUDU. So it's perfect for what I wanted. I also took pic of all the other apps available if anyone was curious. I do think it's neat that u can play some PS3 games on here without a PlayStation. But I'm a Nintendo lover and have been since I was a kid so it doesn't benefit me but it might others. So recap, small, super easy setup and everything worked first time. Watched a movie and played with the apps and so far everything was great. And I know I said it but it is very light and small for people with small areas, it's nice.

I love this Blu-ray Player, I spent so much time reading reviews trying to get the best one at an affordable price and this one IMO was exactly what I needed, I am not a big technology person so I just wanted something easy to use and be able to play amazon prime and Netflix on it, it was easy to connect to TV and to the internet, I had an extra plug for wired internet so that's how I'm using it but I was able to use the built in WiFi as well which I believe is what many are looking for, regarding the speed I think is really good because you don't wait longer than a few seconds to start watching a show and it doesn't stop in the middle to start buffering or anything like that, only one time Amazon Prime Video got a little slow to start playing but it was a Sunday night so Idk if that has something to do with it with so many viewers but other than that it's great.Update: It's been over a year and it still works perfectly, great buy
