Great product, BUT the instructions don't say or show anything about having to add a 1K ohm resister to the LEDs that are used for lights. If you go online, they do have an updated diagram. I attached it, because I followed the diagram in the kit, and blew both LEDs in my engine. I heard one pop, which blew the top right off.The sound wasn't too good until I glued the iPhone 8 speaker to the top of the inside body. The sound is great, and the engine runs great. Lots of sound adjustments, and my favorite is the brakes squealing. The hardest part seems to be always getting the lights on, no matter which decoder I've used. There are two check boxes for operating them in forward and reverse that need to be checked in DecorderPro, and then select the operation you want. Right now mine has a strobe in the rear going backwards, and a headlight at the push of a button. This was all put inside a Walthers HO Scale Model EMD GP15-1 - Standard DC - Norfolk Southern. Everything, including the engine came in at $189.02, before the repairs. That's hard to beat, which is why I am going to do it again with this decoder in a silver and red Santa Fe EMD.Update:Tried to install a SDN147PS Digitrax in another new engine I just got, and it lit up it's headlight, but nothing else worked. This is the second Digitrax I have had problems with. Took it out, and put another one of these Soundtraxx decoders in, and it is working just fine. Has sound, and movement with both front and rear lights. I couldn't be happier. :)

Do not by this decoder, unless you are experience at soldering on a tight PC board, terminals are extremiely close together, even with my tweezers, third hand, 2 good soldering irons, solder-up and experience. You can get big headaches... i am installing a unit on my new fresh out the box DC/DCCdiesel loco, and can only get 75% to work. Please do this...if you want a DCC loco? Bye a loco with a DCC decoder installed. Yes it will $$$$ but all you have to do is put it on the track and go...no wasted money and no headaches. If you own a DC system, keep it just the way it is...don't believe the DCC hipe. BEEN a DC man for over 40 years and never had so manny problems like i do now with my 10'×12' DCC train set. Keep it simple!
