This is a great tool in it's craftsmanship but it lacks in proper functions. The taps don't stay straight or in the vise. Great for use as a screwdriver chuck.

Good.tap wrench. Does not hold straight very well in a drill press, but it.is a good tap wrench.

This little gem allows me to chuck it up in my lathe's tailstock or in my drillpress when getting a tap started absolutely straight is crucial. Well done, youse guys.

This product is intended to be put in a drill press so you can use it to guide a tap straight into a hole so the hole can be threaded. However, no matter how much you adjust the tap (and I tried many, many different times -because I really wanted to finish the part I was working on), when you tighten the chuck on this holder it causes the tap to skew off-center and slightly to the side, making it impossible to tap a hole.Also, when I received the product the threads in the chuck were coated with mill shavings/dust. Tightening the chuck felt like you were operating a pepper mill. I disassembled, cleaned, and oiled everything and the threads worked well after that, but it was still impossible to center the tap in this holder when everything was tightened.I realize it is a cheap import, and I wasn't expecting Starrett quality for the price, but it is 100% unusable as is.

Works great would recommend a flat edge on the spindle post so when you tighten the small lock screw down it will not twist.
