NEVER fails to work, unlike cheap "automatic" push type center punches, but takes two hands to operate. Really nice on thin sheet metal, where pushing hard to operate the punch might not be an option.

Despite the beveled tip, it is still very hard to keep the tip centered in the hole. This makes it very hard to keep the punch tip centered in the transfer hole. Maybe with some practice it might be better, but not good just out of the box,

wish I could give it a negative star or two. ordered two of these, because i have one from 18 years ago and was like yes, I finally found a place that sells them online and can ship to my base, well guess what these are not the same quality as the ones from 18 years ago. these are hot garbage.... While punching a point to center a drill the first one snaped its hardened point clean off. the second one lasted about two weeks on the 5th or 6th use it did the same. meanwhile the one I have had for almost 19 years is still going strong

Very simple tool that works. No hammer needed. Excellent for marking screw holes for hinges, etc.

Useless piece of junk - save your money and give this a missSubsequently bought a Starrett hinge punch, that does exactly what it should
