These are fine as a basic set of bits and will work with a mortise drill press attachment. I say they are about the same as HF bits. I used them handful of times. However, I've found I usually end up just drilling out holes first and hand chiseling after. If I had a dedicated mortising tool, maybe that wouldn't be the case. Having to add and remove the attachment to use these usually isn't wort it.

Great set of mortise bits. They work great and are very easy to use. They are very sharp and plunge right through the wood. Great price

Got these to use with my portable mortising attachment for light work. These have been doing well in very soft woods, but simply do not work very well in hardwoods.

Very well constructed and comes with a punch for getting things aligned correctly. I got these for a hand drill so I will have to make a mounting device since they are intended for mortise machines. Each bit came with its own storage case. These are just the thing for making mortise and tenon joints or making cuts for inlays.

Unlike the drill bit, which is held by the chuck, the chisel slides up in a collar and is held by a set screw. Since the shank size of the chisel wasn’t indicated in the product description I mistakenly assumed they were all the same size. These turned out to be 3/4” and my machine used 5/8”. I’ll be returning them and it’s pretty obvious why they are a often returned item.

The center punch died after just a few times of use.

These mortising bits work well in a drill press, with a minimal amount of clean up when done. Nice to have the ability to drill square holes without spending significant money.
