This professional quality tape measure may be a bit more than most people need around the house for general use--it weighs a little over twelve ounces which may not sound like a lot--but to put that in wider perspective I have several other strictly home-use tape measures. They weigh around four to six ounces so this has quite a bit more bulk.The tape itself is designed to provide accurate measurements with the guide hook inside or outside of what is being measured (I haven't figured out how that actually works and not needing this for professional purposes it probably doesn't matter), provide easy to read fractional measurements at a glance, and is double sided with the metric measurements on the reverse side of the tape. The measuring tape itself is nearly an inch wide and is curved rather than flat (which means it probably is an inch wide or slightly more when flat which isn't possible because the metal material used for the measuring tape is very strong.The extra width and curved design makes accurate readings very easy to take because the numbers are large and fractional measurements between the inches closer to the eyes than they would be on a more conventional flat measuring tape. The sturdy metal material also prevents the tape from curling or bending which is a common issue with cheap measuring tapes. This stays straight, locks in place easily, and is very easy to read.The hollow design looks cool but from a practical perspective is meant to make it easy to clean the unit under running water if dirt, sand, or other foreign matter gets onto the tape and inside the unit. It also makes it way easier for sand and foreign matter to get into the unit in the first place but the theory seems to be that the hollow design makes this easy to clean so that doesn't matter and you don't need to worry about your tape measure getting damaged while working in rough or messy environments. Not being in construction or carpentry or installation this isn't something I can test first-hand but I have seen other professional tape measures with a similar design so it probably does work.There's an inch-and-a-half metal belt clip and also an elastic band with a carabiner for attaching to the belt loop on your pants or something else. The included carabiner can easily be swapped out with one of your own if you need a different size or weight.Final Verdict: Not being a professional I can't say for certain that this really is a professional-quality tape measure but it completely blows away every home tape measure I currently own. It's sturdy, easy to read, and the thick metal tape makes it super easy to take measurements without bending and twisting as you stretch it out. I couldn't be happier with this...but I'm using it around the house rather than on a construction site.
