WHAT IS WATER HAMMER?
Water hammer refers to the hammering sound created inside pipes due to changes in water flow, such as flushing a toilet, turning water valves on or off, or even during cycles in a washing machine. Depending on the size of the plumbing system, water hammer can cause significant damage to pipes.

I gave these a five star rating understanding "how" they work and how "well" they should work where I put them. They are of good build quality and easy to install and use. As they have a spring in them, they are not noisy and, in the supply line to my main home toilet and my refrigerator water supply, they stop the "hammer". However, at the very end of the house with only one way for the water to go (back against the 80 psi supply pressure) they are less successful in reducing the hammer...but they help! I am satisfied with cost and recognize that in a few years I'll need to replace them (as the spring wears out) but I'm happy with that and them. I'd buy them again.

One failed right after just a few washes. They seem to be the same cheaply made junk that is unavoidable now. I've tried a couple brands all with the same result. They won't last more than a couple months. This one didn't even make it that far.

My wife runs the dishwasher after 9p because it is after peak cost time. The pipes in the kitchen would rattle during the cycles. I put the water hammer arrestor on the cold water side, easy install and the rattle is gone. I used a 3/8 male and 3/8 female. These arrestors come in several sizes so do some research. It's worth

This pressure arrestor really help a lot in bringing down the banging. It doesn’t completely makes the noise go away but is much better than before. Just not sure how long this will last.

Nice construction. Easy to install under kitchen sink.Unfortunately, these only reduced the hammering a tiny bit. I’m afraid there’s a different issue at hand.

I recently installed a touch less kitchen faucet and I could hear a loud water hammer throughout the house even on the third floor. I purchase 2 of these which is a bit costly but they work! Installed in 10 minutes on the kitchen faucet and it reduced the noise 80-90%. Now I will be doing the same for my washing machine that has had water hammer for decades. Why aren’t arrestors mandatory in every household, every piping???? I hope they last and will update if they don’t. TY!

I installed my own portable washing machine on my apartment because I wasn’t gonna pay the inflated prices they ask for the communal washing machines. The only problem I had was that there was a massive thumping noise every time I used it. After looking it up and discovering what a “Water Hammer” was, I decided to buy a water hammer arrester to hopefully get rid of the problem.The one issue I kept noticing was that a lot of the arresters had terrible reviews. Some of them only reduced the thumping, while others had no effect at all. A lot of people don’t have any faith in water hammer arresters smaller than 3/4ths. I decided to buy this one because it was the best reviewed and I figured that weaker thumpings was better than doing nothing at all. To my surprise, the thumping was completely gone! I can finally save money and time washing my clothes without worrying about damaging the pipes!

This item probably would work fine in the US but it will not work in the UK as it needs a BSP thread type. Not sure why it’s sold on Amazon UK
