I decided that the old switch was faulty because the backlit "Cruise" label on the button did not light up after the headlights were turned on, and the LED did not light up when the button was pressed. The hardest part for me was getting my hand in the right position to push the clips in to get the switch out. I connected the new switch and it worked right off.
