I have an electric fence around my trash cans to keep the bears out. This allows it to protect the area at night without me having to remember to turn it on at night and off in the morning.

Some of these plugs seem to lose time, but this one has remained accurate and is holding up well. Bought it to power some outdoor lighting, so it is in constant use and it works great. I would recommend this if you need a good timer but don't want to pay the bigger prices at the box store.

I bought this Stanley 31221 Digital LightTimer Select Twin, Grounded 2-Outlet Photocell Timer , Black. It was simple to set up. I connected to the outdoor power outlet and set the number of hours to be to 9, which is the maximum. So it comes on at dusk and is on for 9 hours. Perfect for lighting up my backyard and turning it off without flipping a switch! Especially great when no one is home. Backyard will be lit. Great value!

I use this timer for Christmas lights so I don't have to go outside and plug them in and unplug them every night. This timer is excellent as it has the light sensor and turns on at dusk, and I set it to stay on for 8 hours and they automatically turn off. I couldn't be happier with this timer.

I got this to turn on some outdoor patio lights at sunset. I can't say anything good about this, except that the option to set it to shut off a certain number of hours after sunset is good. But it works only about 30% of the time. Either it shuts itself off during the day for whatever random reason, or it's set to come on, but just doesn't. As many times as I've had to go outside and turn it on manually, I might as well have saved my money and just plug my lights in to an outlet at night, then go out and unplug it before I go to bed. It's set up where it doesn't get rained on too. And I've only had it less than 2 months. Disappointing.
