It’s really tempting to buy a much cheaper version, but if you really need something that will allow you to accurately measure, divide and repeat measurements, the cheap ones are just a waste of money.

One of the two legs was 1/8 shorter than the other and both slightly bent at the tip. It was the 6" model. I can run down office max and get one that has equal length legs and straight any day of the week. We'll see if the replacement has the same issues.

Paid over 60.00 for a solid nut divider. Came in a worn box, the divider just in a plastic bag, metal on the divider legs was not polished or finished and one had oxidation on it as can be seen in the pictures. I’m accustomed to Starrett being like art work when its delivered. Surely this isn’t the quality of their products now. Simply awful. My 19.00 divider from hobby lobby is more polished and it came in a case.Left similar feedback on the starrett website. No response to either.That says a lot of their customer service.

Beautifully made, and a joy to use. The tips of the divider come perfectly aligned and needle-sharp. The nut has just the right amount of resistance so it is neither too loose nor too tight. For large adjustments, I hold the nut with my right hand, and use my left index finger to spin the whole tool around, like a propeller. This is 10 times faster than spinning the nut between your fingers.
