  • Compliant with HDCP 1.1, and DVI
  • Built-in EDID
  • Audio video are separated on output

Connect HDMI enabled devices to a VGA monitor with stereo audio separation

The HDMI2VGA HDMI to VGA converter converts digital HDMI or DVI video signals to analog VGA, taking the input resolution from your device and converting it into an analog signal at the same resolution.

The converter also separates the audio stream from the HDMI signal (HDMI LPCM 2-Channel) and converts it to analog stereo audio that can be used with the VGA display.

With support for resolutions of up to 1080p, the HDMI2VGA converter is a perfect solution for connecting video cards (desktop or laptop) or consumer electronics devices such as game consoles or home theater receivers that offer an HDMI output to a VGA display.

The HDMI2VGA adapter/converter is simple to use, with no complicated settings. lifetime technical support.

I have been trying for some time to solve a problem: to get a component video output from a BD Player.Or, more properly, to get one that the Toshiba TV I am using will be able to use. This one, of course, is clearly stated to only be for computers; hooking it up to the BD Player showed behavior that, in the past, turned out to be an HDCP problem (since solved for my current conversion chain, HDMI-VGA-SVideo, and so not a problem here either). But the computer would not provide an aspect ratio lower than 800x600, and that produced what the other aspect ratios produced: a screen full of what could be described as teeny-tiny boxes. This is probably a resolution problem -- but it means that this device /will not/ connect a computer to a TV set unless the TV set can handle one of the resolutions the computer puts out. There may also be a similar problem if the TV set requires an interlaced signal and the computer only puts out progressive video.Since the package includes a VGA-component video cable, I attached it to the older HDMI-to-VGA that I got working with the BD Player two years ago, and, for 480p, got a clear image! Unfortunately, the image showed two copies of the BD Player main menu, split by a bar in the middle (vertically), with the bottom part of the image on the top and the top part on the bottom. This may be what progressive video looks like on an interactive TV. Plus maybe a synch problem. It turned out, BTW, that the BD Player was producing a YPbPr signal (as opposed to RGB), which may explain why it worked and also makes this device superfluous. So, I returned this item as not performing as advertised (it failed to produce a usable image on my TV when attached to a computer). I gave it three stars because it very likely does work if the the HDMI source produces the "right" video signal, but not otherwise.I really do not understand why a device that /actually produces/ the analog YPbPr video widely used in DVD Players and TV sets 20 years ago is so hard to produce. Was it not standardized? Has the standard been completely forgotten? This looked like one that would do that for me, or I wouldn't have bought it. Perhaps the description needs to be clearer.

After calliing and speaking at length to Star Tech, tech support they told us that this would do the trick , we gave them the model number of the exact piece of equipment we needed to use it with. It did not work at all from what I understand something to do with blue ray protection. I am very disappointed in STAR TECH tech support and for that matter also Denon tech support who we called first and the said this was the piece we needed. We ended up getting an Extron piece of equipment

Received the StarTech box within two days using Amazon Prime Shipping. Plug & Play with my ATI Radeon 5450 Video Card. I had to use a second monitor so I could setup up my Sony KP-53HS30 53" 1080i HD RPTV circa 2001 as my main "monitor" and my temporary PC Monitor as my duplicate.Bottom line : I have a full 16:9 Aspect ratio with a 1080i signal on my Sony RPTV coming from my PC's video card via the StarTech box. The hardest part was setting up the ATI Radeon Catalyst Converter. The big hint here is fumbling through their terrible GUI to setup your 1080i/30fs signal. Buried within the endless useless menu's. Once that was done, finding the setting for adjusting position (scaling too was a ball buster) was not an easy task. Once I found it (don't ask), I was able to move the image to the right of my RPTV's screen. Of course text on a 1080i RPTV @ 1280x768 (?) is almost impossible to read but, when watching streaming video and navigating my way through itunes, WMP, & other basic HTPC tasks, it's fine. My Hauppauge HDTV Tuner looks great up on the old "Big Screen".Until my Sony says it's time (biting my tongue), I'm happy that I am not shelling out $1000 on a new 58" LED TV.

I bought this adapter quite some time ago. Its installation and setup was easy to and it worked as it should. I have never had any problems with this adapter.

This unit allows to connect the ancient style, VGA type monitor, to the HDMI output of an HDTV. It does not allow the VGA output on a laptop to connect to the HDMI input on an HDTV. That means the unit allows the purchaser, rather than watch TV, DVD, or BlueRay on a big HDTV screen, to convert the signal and watch the same thing on a old 15" crt computer monitor. It is difficult to imagine the unit being used for its intended purpose, because the idea is self destructive. Not being able to conceive of any logical use for this device, other than converting a laptop VGA output to HDMI input into a HDTV, I made the purchase only to find the unit performed a senseless task. So I returned it.

We purchased this device so that our sales staff could demo our Android application live (via mirror mode) on their Motorola phones and Samsung tablets using our non-HDMI projectors. The output is incredibly sharp and the converter responds immediately to device orientation shifts. While it sounds like the device may have some issues with HDCP, I'm not sure it deserves quite the knock it's been given. We tried a similar device from another manufacturer and the output was junk all around.

Does a good job - though too good as it gets caught by the HDCP issue - needs a "dumb-down" switch to reduce output to the point where you can still watch your HD content at lower resolution.

I purchased this product in order to run HDMI enabled Android tablets and mobile devices on a video projector for presentations. As a previous viewer noted (unfortunately, after I bought the thing) this box will have issues with HDCP (HollywooD Cripples their Products). Basically, this box will indeed downsample/convert a signal to VGA... but certain devices will not output a signal when they detect their signal being downsampled. Defective by design in order to "combat teh piratez" I guess, but at the expense of the legit consumer. So, all I get is a black screen. However, it works fine with my XBOX, possibly because the signal is lower resolution. And it will probably work with an HDMI laptop, if there is such a thing. Since the product description doesn't specify which devices it works on and which ones it doesn't, it is in fact quite useless for the average person's needs.
