LITERALLY THE EASIEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. AND HAVE 3 EXTENDED DISPLAYS, ALL 3 DIFFERENT. LAPTOP AND 2 24" HD MONITORS. READ THE DIRECTIONS, POPPED IN THE DISC, FOLLOWED THE PROMPTS, RESTARTED, AND VOILA! I 100% RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE...REMEMBER TO ALSO PURCHASE A DVI CABLE, DOUBLE FEMALE ENDED, FOR THE INSTALLATION. ANY USB 2.0 PORT WORKS. SLICK AS HECK.

Bought this to add an extra screen output to my wife's laptop. Super easy to install and means she can have three monitors now. She was so impressed I had to buy another for her to take to work and use there!!!

There was a lot of lag, could have been my computer, but it does extend the monitors to two. Not sure of this is good.

The product works. But. For me I had to reinstall the driver every time I rebooted my computer. Since this is a laptop that I take to work, this means that I reinstall the driver every day. This required uninstalling, rebooting, and then installing - a 15-minute process every time i rebooted. And, if I "finished" the installation by letting the system reboot (Windows 7 64-bit) then it wouldn't work either. When it DID work, it worked quite well and I liked having the third monitor. Reinstalling the software is unreasonable. 2-stars because when it actually worked it was nice.

This is a phenomenal piece of kit. Download the drivers, turn off your computer, plug it in and boot up. Three glorious screens. It's for those of us who can't be bothered opening the back of the computer but need more screen estate.

Grazie a questo cavo ora posso usare 3 monitor: quello del mio notebook + 2 esterni di cui uno collegato con questo cavo. Una volta scaricato il driver è stato facile installarlo, ha funzionato al primo colpo. Uso Vista come S.O.

Este producto dice de funcionar en linux pero es mentira. No vale la pena intentar y por el precio más vale un portatil nuevo.

Its nice to have the ability to use two monitors with my laptop. (I have a Sony Vaio Z3). This product does its job but it does lag. I don't use this to do any video playback or any games. I use it for programming and databases and word processing and excel spreadsheets so i'm not sure why it lags but it does. For instance, when I move the mouse over the monitor that is connected via the USB 3.0 port somewhat quickly it will lag.Its not to big of an issue, but you will get irritated every now and then. I suggest you use the monitor that isn't connected to this port for the majority of your tasks and use the monitor connected to this device more as an information screen i.e something you'll glance at on occasion. But all in all, the color is amazing, and it makes me more productive now that I have two monitors and it does its job well.

I debated whether to give this 4 or 5 stars. It gets 5 stars for value-for-money. But I wanted to knock off a star to warn people that you aren't getting a top-of-the-line graphics card with this device. I connected this to an extra 1600x900 monitor that I have. It works great for basic productivity tasks--surfing the internet, checking email, writing documents, etc. Running undemanding applications, I wouldn't be able to tell which monitor is connected to this device and which are connected to my internal graphics card.It sputtered a little with 480p video, and there was noticeable lagging with 1080p video--so much that you wouldn't be able to watch high-definition video through this device. (Obviously, my display is not a full 1080p, so it had to downconvert; I don't know if that impacted performance at all.) However, the device did not slow my computer down, and there was no impact on 1080p video performance on my other two monitors. (In fact, I placed half the video on the monitor connected through this device, and half on another monitor, and could see half the video stuttering and the other half running smoothly.) I didn't even both trying to run any games with demanding graphics. If it struggles to play standard definition video, it ain't playing Crysis.So. . . . It's good for its purpose, but don't expect miracles.

I needed this to extend my screen on my HP all-in-one, it worked perfectly, the software was easy to install and configure. It does not come with a cable but the monitor I bought came with both a DVI and a VGA cable so I just used the one that came with the monitor. My screen looks better that my all-in-one but that's cool, at least I can stream movies on one and open my Firefox on the other, this was really needed because there are no display outputs and this took care of the problem.

This is an easy and inexpensive way to add a second external monitor to a laptop. I had an external monitor already, but wanted to add a second one so I could have multiple documents in view at the same time. This fits the bill perfectly. Set up was easy, I just downloaded and installed the latest drivers and connected everything. It does take up a USB port, but my laptop has 3, and I have daisy chained hubs on one of them for peripherals. I tried connecting the Star Tech adapter to a hub, but that didn't work, it has to be connected to a USB port on the laptop. The only slight drawback is keeping track of the mouse cursor across multiple screens.

Crashed my system and performed poorly. I ended up returning it. I subsequently bought an equivalent Targus device for $20.00 on Ebay. The Targus works perfectly.

Have overall been pleased with this device. It is very easy to install/use. I have two monitors, so it's a little space consuming because I have two units. I don't have USB3.0 which would probably be an asset, although the performance has been pretty good on the USB2.0 slots. I use Photoshop CS6 on this laptop, and it works well. I'm not a gamer so can't comment. I did upgrade my laptop from 4 > 8GB memory and that seems to have helped. Also notice that when playing video it seems to place more demand on laptop as I can hear fan speed increasing to kick out heat the longer the video plays. Not sure that's a function of using USB, but I have to guess that that the demand on memory/disk is higher with USB when you don't use the integrated graphics card...
