Make the process cleaner with this clever set of anti-splash pads from STEELMAN. Designed to fit into the top of waste oil drains and oil pans, the porous material helps absorb the liquid you’re working with. The material resists most types of liquids that are used at an auto shop, such as engine oil, transmission fluid, and coolant, but should not be used on fluids that will be recycled in the vehicle. The pads have a 15-inch diameter and can be cut down to any size you need.

Does not splash at all. Slowly down the oil going into the tank is the only issue.

If you change your own oil or do it professionally, put one of these in the oil drain pan or funnel. There is no splash and anything you accidentally drop in there is easy to retrieve. I’ve never cleaned mine and I honestly don't think there is any reason to unless you have to take it out for some reason to store it. That could get real messy. If you’re using a drain pan it would be best to leave it in the pan and slide the entire pan and pad inside a large plastic bag and then a cardboard box that fits. If your using a pan you might have to make this stay above the oil level of the pan once filled.(Wire mesh screen made to rest on top?) These can easily be cut to fit also. Even if you lay it on the bottom of the drain pan the initial splash will not happen, giving you time to reposition the pan and get out of the way.

I've been doing my own oil changes for decades and never bothered with this; and now that I've used one, I don't know I'll ever go to not using one. Most oil changes, I'd get a few splatters on the floor from it hitting my drain pan. Absolutely Zero with this on top. A true win!
