This simulator kit will bypass the steering lock mechanism while not hindering or affecting any of the corvettes other factory anti theft features. Here we have added a guide for your repair! photo vemp_0808_01_zc5_corvettesteering_column_lock_repair_zps2npx4aif.jpg "Failed steering-column locks are a common problem on Fifth-generation Corvettes. In addition to being annoying, this mechanical glitch can, under the right circumstances, prove downright dangerous. Editor's note: This month's issue was supposed to contain the final installment of our "C5 on a Shoestring" series. Unfortunately, a minor accident sidelined the car shortly before press time, making it impossible to perform any post-modification performance testing. We hope to have that story for you next month, but in the meantime, we've decided to address another topic of importance to C5 owners everywhere. If you own a C5 Corvette, it's entirely possible that you've found yourself immobilized by a hopelessly locked steering wheel, a "Service Steering Column Lock" message glowing ominousl

Unfortunately, it did not work for our 2003 C5 Corvette. Error message still appeared and car would shut off after attempting to drive. I uninstalled and am out the money spent without a return.

This module made my car display "remove key for 10 secs" error on the dash. I tried to contact the seller with no response. To return the item I have to pay the return shipping. I would steer clear of this item and this seller.

This worked perfectly, i had my steering wheel on my c5 corvette locked. All you have to do is remove 3 fuses, i think 23.25.29. Not sure, i recommend a youtube video before attempting. Wait 10-30 seconds, when you turn that car on, and give the steering wheel a hard turn to the left, you’ll be unlocked. (If its not, try again) Once unlocked, take the key out. Do not turn the steering wheel, it will lock itself again. After that remove the negative in your battery, install the simulator on the driver side. Very simple unplug and plug in install, a little uncomfortable but worth it. Put the battery negative back, and once you put your key in, the column lock will never lock or unlock again, you’ll be set for life i think.

After researching I spoke with a guy on tik tok. He pointed me in this direction. Easy to install and no issue at all. Now I can drive my vette and not worry about it cutting my fuel off!

Installation instruction are good. Took about an hour but I take my time. I used to get the "Pull Key...." message about 1 in 4 starts, now I have only gotten it once it 40 starts. So this device did not completely eliminate the column lock issue but made it much better. I suspect there is a relay in the module but I don't know for sure. There are some that are 100% solid state, but cost much more. Time will tell if I should have bought the solid state one. If you have a broken bezel around you ignition switch order one to install when you install this.

... although it's a bit of a bear to install and the double-stick tape on the module doesn't stick to much. The PCM didn't like it when I fired up the engine, but I shut down for 10 seconds and fired it up again without issue.
