I guess Steinel not only ran out of fitted cases. They eventually ran out of model 2010 heat guns. When I opened my case I was surprised, and delighted to find a model 2020 in the box. In my brief use of the gun, it works very well, but as others have mentioned, doesn't have a lot of airflow. For the use I intend to use it for (shrinking fabric on an ultralight aircraft) that should be fine and adds to it's control.

Works as advertised, and included all of the bits listed in the advertising. I have been using it for plastic welding and have been completely happy with it. It works very well and warms up quickly. The temperature control seems to be very accurate and removes a lot of the guesswork from the welding process. This unit was more expensive than some of the alternatives; the extra money gets you things like a case, multiple outlets, digital temperature control, etc. I don't know about longevity yet (recent purchase), but Steinel has a reputation for making long-lasting tools.I picked the "special" 25th anniversary addition because it was slightly cheaper than buying the heat gun by itself (even without considering the extra tips and case that I would have had to buy). That will eventually change (presumably); when that happens I would still recommend getting either just the gun or the full kit, depending on whether or not you actually need the extra attachments that come with the "special" version.

This product worked as advertised. I find I can easily focus the heat to small areas as needed. Its not as heavy as some of the other guns, so easy to hold for long periods of time. Very good quality feel and easy to operate.

This heat gun is very well built. Temp is variable in 10 degree increments through the 120 - 1100 F heat range. The digital display of temp setting and current discharge temperature are valuable features and the gun allows quick and accurate control to match the exact requirements for the task at hand. The design allows the gun stand on end without a stand and without disrupting airflow. The Steinel was a few dollars more than other brands. I bought this based on Steinel's reputation among professionals and the online reviews on several sites. I'm very pleased with the purchase.... great value - well worth the price.

Good quality heat gun, easy to read LCD and set up temperature in 10 degrees stepsComes with lots of attachments, unbeatable priceBox is plastic with some metal inserts but no compartments, hence my 4 star rating - I actually purchased a separate molded plastic box (Steinel 40100) that fits the gun perfectly plus it has enough room for attachments.Made in Romania (I did some research and found out that many of the heat guns from Steinel, Bosch, Milwaukee are actually similar and made in the same factory owned by Bosch in Romania)

$110 worth of accessories, a nice carrying case, a new model HL 2010 E, 3 highly informative manuals and all delivered for under the discount price of the gun alone, what a deal!My HL 2010 E was made in Romania, not in China, and hence, did not have the dire warning about washing my hands thoroughly after touching the power cord. The previous reviewer is correct in stating that there are only 2 fan speeds. There are three "on" switch positions but the first one is fan only. Big deal!I really like all the gadgets they sent along and the manuals are amazing. Here I thought I was just replacing my old, worn out, tubing shrinker and I got a neat new, versatile thermal tool.So the case doesn't have compartments, so what? The stuff would just fall out of 'em anyway.Me? I'm satisfied. In fact, I'm delighted. Shrink tubing, stand by to be shrunk. I'm back in business.
