Excellent!! I make homemade sourdough and this box has kept it from dying out and kept it fresh a whole week! The design is really nice. Love the natural and breathable materials. I wish it was wider. A round one would be great! I bake in a Dutch oven so my loaves are round not oval or rectangular… a second design with this in mind would be great.

I like this bread box a lot, I just wish it allowed a taller loaf. It does a really good job keeping homemade bread fresh for as long as possible. I've tried a lot of bread boxes and bread bags and think this one is really quite a lot better than any other one I've used. I think the terracotta does a good job regulating moisture.I have a 2lb Zojirushi bread maker and if I make a 1.5lb loaf in it it will fit in this bread box, but most of the 2lb loaves are too tall. The loaf clearance in this bread box is just a bit on the short side so I couldn't give it 5 stars even though I love it otherwise.

I really, really, REALLY love this bread box! This is a true terracotta bread box--it's heavy with the rough outside and polished inside, exactly what you should expect from a terracotta food storage container. I was surprised that the bamboo lid is also heavy and well made. This lid will never warp! The bread box fits a full loaf of store bread perfectly, but I bought it for my homemade loafs since they aren't in plastic, and they fit PERFECT in this container.I did make one tweak to the design. Being terracotta, the bottom edges were raw. I don't want to scuff my countertops so, playing it safe, I put some electrical tape along the edges. Doesn't look pretty (I'm not exactly talented in the crafty way), but the tape protects my counters and doesn't impact the look or usability of the bread box. I wouldn't dock a star for the bottom since it's like other terracottas I've bought in the past and just part of having a natural product.

I have been sleeping on the virtues of using a bread box for some years now. With the cost of living rising, I took to learning how to bake My own, and this does actually extend the life and freshness of your baked goods. In effect, saving you money, so it will eventually pay for itself. It obviously works with store bought bread as well. It also makes for good storage for onions and/or potatoes, but only about 3 or 4 at a time.

I have been baking my bread fresh for the last 20 years. I have tried wooden bread boxes, ziplock bags, bread bags, bees wax cloths- pretty much every option I could find for storing bread. But this is the first storage that doesn’t leave dry crusty edges or soppy wet gooey exteriors ( my sandwich loaf I baste honey butter atop in the last few baking minutes) it also doesn’t get stuck and mar the loaf. This is brilliant. Bread lasts for days and still tastes good. I can store my sandwich loaf pre cut which makes the kids more willing to grab as a snack - before I would just cut off the bread she and toss it to the pigs then cut what I need.This can hold a standard sandwich loaf, it’s easy to wipe out to clean. It is heavy though. I don’t let my littles pick it up- as it is clay I worry they may drop it and break it.This is a good value because I no longer have bread waste. We can eat the whole loaf. I typically make two loaves at a time - have sandwiches the first day ( takes 1 1/3 loaves for all 9 of us) then the kids have toast until it’s used up. I can also cook the fresh loaf- slice it and store it so I no longer have to come cut a slice anytime the kids want some- so it is also saving me time and lets the kids be more independent.

I love my new bread box. It’s the perfect place for my homemade bread, but I also use it for muffins etc.

This Steinzeit Bread Box Made from Breathable Terracotta is an eco-friendly way to keep my fresh-baked sourdough fresh. Equipped with a thick, sturdy & lovely bamboo lid that lays atop the container and easily lifts off, this breadbox looks great on my solid wood countertop! It enhances the natural aesthetic to my kitchen in a way that I really love.The terracotta container is of excellent quality, with a half-glazed interior and three air holes located at each end, which keeps the bread fresh longer by keeping it from getting soggy or moldy. Through the years, I've learned that bread stays fresher longer when stored outside the refrigerator at room temperature.Do note that the bamboo lid simply lays atop the terracotta box, with a thickened center that prevents it from sliding off. There is no sealing ring attached to the lid. The solid heft of the lid itself helps it to form a decent enough seal against the rim of the box. Also note that terracotta is a brittle clay when fired/cured, and can be easily chipped when handled roughly. It's best to find a permanent place in your kitchen for this breadbox to reside, and when necessary to move it for cleaning, etc., be sure to handle it with care. Placing it atop a dishtowel or small bamboo cutting board will further protect the bottom from chipping. I'm very impressed with this Steinzeit Bread Box Made from Breathable Terracotta, and recommend it highly!

Ich schreibe eigentlich aus Zeitmangel fast nie etwas, aber hier muss ich. Schon das auspacken war wie Weihnachten, auch das Prospekt dazu, Mega, kurz und knapp, übersichtlich, tolle Qualität alles. Da muss ich noch mehr bestellen. Bei der Butterdose das gleiche Erlebnis. Danke an das ganze Team und weiter so!

Gut verarbeitet, ein toller Hingucker, ich mag Handwerk , war erstaunt das der Deckel sich 0,7 mm hin und her bewegen lässt, aber als ich hier nachfragte bei Kunden wurde mir gesagt das wäre normal und hätte keinen Einfluss auf das Brot, ich verlasse mich nun mal darauf, weil er wirklich sehr wertig ist und habe ihn nun in Gebrauch, preis ist absolut ok für diese HandarbeitNachtrag:das der Deckel nicht ganz fest sitzt, hat wirklich keinen Einfluss auf die Haltbarkeit oder frische, der Brotkasten ist echt klassemein selbstgemachtes Brot, hält super gut 5 Tage, wie lange es noch halten würde weiß ich nicht, da es dann immer leer ist :) denke da ist aber noch Luft für 1–2 Tage, Brotkasten also TOP, würde ihn wieder kaufen und auch zu 100 % weiterempfehlen

Das ist die beste Brotdose, die ich jemals hatte. Das Brot schmeckt nach Tagen noch wie am ersten Tag. Diese Brotdose kann ich nur empfehlen!

Die viel angemäkelte Qualität der Glasur ist einwandfrei. Die Maße des Produkts sind ja von vornherein bekannt. Aber nach erstem Gebrauch hat sich gezeigt, das der Brotkasten vielleicht doch etwas grösser sein könnte für meine Zwecke. Ansonsten keine Beanstandungen. Kann ich empfehlen.
