Produces a clean weld and is very capable. Don’t know how they make these so tiny but the performance they pack just makes it more enjoyable to use. Super light and can carry for portable welding needs. Well worth it!

I have a larger welder that works fine but is a bit cumbersome so I got this one. It is compact, easy to move, and easy to store. Works great! Took a minute to get the settings but it's all good. Well made and should last for years. I would recommend this.

This welder works well, It could benifit with including a welding mask as I had to buy one seperately. The directions were easy to understand and operating it was simple. However the cord to the welder itself was a bit too short for my liking. an extra 2-3 feet would be a significant improvement. Otherwise it's great! Would recommend as a cheap starting welder for learning or for simple household use.

I'm impressed with this welder. It welds better than a similar size Harbor Freight Tools 90 amp welder I have. It starts an arc very easily and consistently with the 1/16 inch welding rods I tried in it. When I tried the much thicker (1/8 inch?) rods that are included, I was also able to get arcs started pretty well, just not as easily as with the 1/16-inch rods.My testing was all at maximum power, which is where I will likely always have it set since this is not a powerful welder. Regarding that power, the manual says it goes up to 120 amps. However when setting the power with the dial, it only goes up to 100 amps. That 100 amp setting is only available when I choose the bottom icon on the display. When set at the middle icon setting, it only goes up to 80 amps. The top icon appears to be for TIG, and it goes up to 250. There is no way this 110 volt welder can produce 250 amps, so I don't know what that "250" on the display means. Perhaps it means it can weld 2.5 mm steel, which it certainly can do.My main complaint about this welder is the manual makes no mention of what the three settings are for. You toggle between the three settings by pressing the front knob in and releasing it. The icons that light up when you do this are pretty much undecipherable, at least by me. I think the top icon looks like a TIG torch, but the other two icons below it on the display are very similar and I don't know what they mean. The manual is of no help and does not talk about or show those icons or even talk about the three different settings. The other thing I noticed is that as soon as I start welding, the top icon lights up and the display shows "250", even though prior to welding I set the welder to the bottom icon and maxed out the power at 100 amps.Despite this complete confusion, I was able to weld with it just fine. As a test, I welded together some 1/2-inch diameter grade 60 steel rebar end-to-end, basically taking many short pieces of rebar and making one long rebar out of them. It welded this fine. However the welds were not strong and I could break them (with some force) afterwards. That is because this welder does not have enough power to fully penetrate such thick steel. Looking at the cross section of the bar after I broke the welds, I see that my welds penetrated about 1/8 of an inch into these 1/2-inch diameter rods. I don't fault the welder for this. It's a 100-amp welder, so this is to be expected. It is a fine welder for welding 1/8-inch thick steel. I'd even weld thicker steel with it if this is the only welder I have, although the welds won't be as strong as if I used a more powerful welder. For the price, this is a great value. I'm impressed with how easily I can start a weld without the rod sticking; better than my other small 110-volt welder that I paid more for. The stinger and the grounding clamp are decent if not heavy-duty. The wires are not very thick but did not overheat so seem adequate for this low-power welder.I take off one star for the user manual not explaining the different settings, and the confusion I still have as to why the display always goes back to the top-most icon and setting as soon as I start to weld, even though I have set it to the bottom icon setting. I really should take off another star since the description on Amazon says "250A", implying this is a 250 amp welder. Less knowledgeable people may be fooled. There is no such thing as a 110-volt 250-amp welder. Even the model name "MMA 250" implies it's 250 amps. It is not. I wish this were a 120-amp welder like the manual states, but maxing out the dial shows 100 on the display.

Great performance for the price! I've a "buzz box" from the past and this blows that away in performance. It is incredibly small and works really well with small rod for quick budget repairs around the shop! Its made well and the settings are easy to adjust and use. Stick welding takes some practice and this is a good machine to learn how to stick weld for small household repairs. You will still need a darkening shield and welding sticks!

I haven't welded anything since middle school metal shop class, but my FIL was a welder for years, so I thought I'd order this and give him a shot at it. After spending an afternoon welding things together, I learned a lot from him on properly setting up the welder for different metal types and thicknesses and how to make a clean weld that doesn't need to be filed or cleaned up before use. There are some really incredible reviews and videos available to start you out as I did, but it works nicely within its limitations, is much smaller than a more powerful welding rig, and is reasonably easy to use once you understand how to adjust the power as needed. Remember to use the proper welding eye protection at all times, even if you are merely observing the process. Recommended.

Bare-bones, but capable unit. Provides the features you expect without any nonsense. This is one of the most compact portable stick welding units I've seen, but it doesn't seem to be at the expense of heat dissipation. That said, I'd still advise reading about the duty cycle of the machine and making sure to be mindful of it to avoid damaging the circuitry through overheating. The positive and negative connector points aren't labeled, so I would suggest identifying them by referencing the manual and maybe using a paint pen or something to indicate which is which to avoid any mistakes. The unit allows for defining your workpiece thickness, the amperage, and your hot start & arc force percentages (these are cycled through by pressing the amperage adjustment knob), which are really helpful features that a lot of the multi-function mini welders seem to overlook. While I was not impressed with how light the cable gauges are for the stinger and ground clamp leads (12mm²), this isn't a very big deal. It's still usable out of the box, but I would recommend upgrading the ground clamp if nothing else. If you find that the performance isn't quite as consistent or powerful as you'd expect, you'll probably be best to upgrade the stinger and clamp, then the lead cables if you need to. Otherwise, this is a fantastic budget welder to keep in the garage or, like I'll be doing, in your vehicle for field repairs and odd jobs where you'll have power access.
