works well on hollow walls with downward battons but i have one room where there are mini battons going across attached to the down battons and has thick insualtion in the gaps and it cant find the down battons

For decades I’ve been using an old-school stud-finder that imprecisely indicates where the edges of the stud are, but not the center, and not where any live AC wires are. In stud-finder mode, this Pigada stud-finder indicates where the middle of the stud is with bullseye display on the LCD. In AC live-wire-finder mode, it clearly indicates where live AC wires are.The Pigada stud-finder is powered by a 9V battery, which is included. Once the battery is installed, the operation is very intuitive. You can use the mode button to select which thickness of drywall and which type of stud you’re sensing, or to put it into AC-wire-detection mode. I was able to use it to find studs and AC wires without even reading the well-written manual. (I read the manual after I used it.)This Pigada stud-finder is so much better than my old-school stud-finder. I’m so happy that I got it. I love the simple, intuitive operation and the accurate visible and audio feedback. The price is reasonable ($19.99 at the time of this review.) So, I’m giving it 5-stars.

Got this to safely mount a few things on walls around the house. It has been fairly accurate, but not 100% and it is very picky about calibration being done properly every time. That said, the display is clear and easy to read, the device is compact and light, and comes with a nice and a fairly convenient holder (and yes, the battery is included too).Overall as long as I measured twice (resetting the device in between) and a third time if the 2 scans disagree, I have not had issues. If that is an acceptable result or not is up to you to decide, but I will be keeping this thing around at least as a "second opinion" to knocking on walls for now as I am not a professional at these kinds of things.

I was skeptical of the readings I was getting when I first tried this device. Now I’m a believer. After pretty thoroughly scanning a wall with an open back, I’m confident that this device works very well. Initially I thought I was getting false positives, beeps when there was nothing there, when scanning for electricity or metal in the wall. After examining the open back of the wall, it turned out that the device was accurately detecting wires in AC mode and metal support posts in metal detection mode. I seriously doubted the metal detection at one point but it turns out the detector found a post I didn’t know was there. Anyway, now I trust this device to check for wires and metal behind walls. The stud finder always worked reliably. I especially like how clear it is in identifying the center of the stud. Very helpful. Just remember to calibrate the device before using it. That’s a simple process of pressing and holding one button before using the tool. For studs, you press the calibrate button while holding the device motionless tight to the wall. For metal and AC detection, you turn on and calibrate holding the device in the air away from any potential metal or electrical sources.Very good product. I recommend it.

In the 40 -50 years I've tried: (1) Stud finders, (2) Wire/Metal finders; most failed, or only worked sometimes. Most were so aggravating that I'd give up and use a tape measure to drill small test holes until I found the stud. I've a couple of electrical testers that I use when I'm pretty certain I'm near wires; but they aren't made to find them blind.Our house isn't typical construction; so the studs have been 'interesting' to find when it was critical. The exterior walls have 6 x 6" posts with horizontal 2 x 6" studs. The interior walls have a mix of wood, and steel vertical studs. The garage has all horizontal studs, except for the space with the water heater.We had some remodeling done in the bathrooms a few years back; and the contractor showed me how I'd missed drilling into a copper water pipe by an inch when I'd installed a towel rack. The wall was on the opposite side of all the fixtures, but the pipes were running up and down from the floor to the water heater on the other side of the wall. Since then I've been wary of drilling blindly.When this Rigada Multi-scanning tool showed up in my Amazon Vine selection; I had to try it. It came today, and I tried it on tile, and drywall walls. It did best on all functions with drywall; but it did easily find pipes and wires through the tiles, and with patience, the steel studs. As, with most new tools; it got easier with some practice.The instructions are well done, and there's contact information for Rigada if you need more help.

El fabricante nos remite este detector en un pack que incluye una pila de 9V, una bolsita para dejar protegido y transportar el producto y manual de instrucciones que incluye español (aunque hay que decir que el tamaño de la letra en que se ha imprimido es bastante pequeño).Una vez que tenemos el detector en la mano, comprobamos que está fabricado en materiales plásticos, que aunque no son endebles, tampoco permiten fiarse de que ante una caída el detector no se estropee, por lo que recomiendo tener cuidado al respecto.Tendremos que colocar la pila, cosa que se hace en la compuerta situada en la parte de atrás y a partir de aquí ya podemos empezar a utilizarlo.Pulsamos el botón MODE hasta que el aparato se encienda e iremos alternando entre la detección de cables, detección de madera de distinto grosor y detección de tuberías. Una vez que estemos en el modo deseado, colocaremos el detector pegado a la pared en plano y pulsando el botón del lateral izquierdo se activará el proceso de calibrado y detección. Una vez que termina, ya podemos ir buscando el cable con corriente eléctrica o la tubería o la presencia de maderas en la pared acercando mucho el detector a la misma o directamente pegándolo a ella. Conviene hacer un buen ajuste de la detección ya que de ello va a depender que el dispositivo marque bien el material que ha encontrado.En el momento en el que se detecta tuberías, corriente eléctrica o madera según hayamos programado, el dispositivo pita y enciende un led de color rojo, pero si nos fijamos en la pantalla, y hemos ajustado bien la detección, a medida que nos estemos acercando al material a detectar, veremos cómo unos círculos concéntricos nos indican mayor o menor distancia y el led del dispositivo se vuelve de color amarillo.Pros:- Sencillo de usar.- Buenos resultados para aficionados.- Perfecto para bricolaje casero.Contras:- Materiales no demasiado resistentes.- Las instrucciones son algo confusas.En definitiva, y en cuanto al precio del equipo, lo considero una buena ayuda para hacer nuestras pequeñas obras en casa.

Nunca había escuchado de este tipo de producto, no me dedico a nada que deba estar perforando paredes.Mi hermano trabaja como instalador de fibra óptica y él sí que necesita agujerear paredes, aunque ya lleva trabajando 8 años en ello y nunca ha necesitado una, ya que donde están las tomas de corriente sabe que los cables tienen que salir en horizontal o vertical. Por lo tanto, para asegurarsse acaba instalando en diagonal.Considero que esta herramienta va bien para fontaneros, electricistas, o quien necesite agujerear una pared por la cual pueda pasar caños de gas/agua o cables eléctricos.Su uso es bastante sencillo:1. Encender el detector y seleccionar el modo.2. Comenzar el escaneo para calibrar el aparato (pegado a la pared o en el aire dependiendo de lo que se esté buscando).3. Luego se debe ir deslizando, no muy rápido, por la pared. Cuando el detector encuentra lo que se está buscando, encenderá el LED con un color:- verde: cerca- amarillo: muy cerca- rojo: justo encima (también hace un pitido continuo)En mi caso me ha sido difícil probarlo debido a que el detector tendría que estar pegado a la pared, pero como se puede ver, la pared no es completamente lisa. A pesar de ello ha funcionado extremadamente bien, incluso llegué a ver el rojo con el pitido, pero al sacar el móvil y tal lo perdí, no pude volver a reproducirlo (no me he esforzado mucho tampoco), porque supuse que se había descalibrado (lo pone en las instrucciones. Cada vez que se separa de la pared hay que recalibrarlo).Puntos positivos:- Detector de tuberías (a diferentes profundidades).- Detector de cables de corriente alterna.- Detector de metales.- Incluye batería (9V)- Viene con funda para transportar.- Una vez entiendes el manual es intuitivo.Puntos negativos:- Es un poco incómodo, y debido al tamaño no me ha quedado claro dónde se encontraba el detector, si en la parte superior (como muestra en un dibujo) o en el centro.
