Piece of crap.didnt find any studs and when moving along the wall the whole wall showed up as a stud.

I found the device very inconsistent. Initially, it seemed to work okay, but would sometimes recognize a stud when approaching it from one direction and then fail to recognize it when moving from the opposite direction. Later, it stopped recognizing studs all together, even when changing the depth of scan or material type. I ended up going down to the hardware store, picked up the cheapest stud finder they had, and it worked perfectly (Z....)

I have been looking for a good and reliable detector and so far not very successful. Most are inconsistent. The key is to turn it on, on the wall in a place you know for sure there are no studs. Then move slowly towards the area you want find and mark the stud center. Call it a calibration step. That way, most stud finder will be ok.This finder is no different, I recommend testing it first on areas you know where the studs are. for example you know there should be a stud to the right or left of every outlet and light switch. you also now that in most areas the distance between the studs is 16". So test and see repeatability before you start with some major projects and avoid surprises.

Used for hanging a picture. Finds studs, but is more complex than my old "dumb" stud finder that was push button and move.I do like the advanced features, but just make sure you don't lose the original instructions or you may be kicking yourself in the future. I kind of wish it had a "simple mode" to function like every other stud finder I've used. I don't always need the extra features, and that really slows down your workflow when using a stud finder multiple times during a project.It did seem to be accurate, so it does work, just personally think sometimes more features aren't always better, if you don't normally need them.
