The pole comes as 10 separate metal tubes that screw together, making it very easy to adjust the length as needed. The saw head attaches to the pole with 3 bolts and wing nuts.At its full length, the pole is sturdy but does flex a bit. I’m easily able to cut 2” diameter limbs with the saw at about 20’ up with just a handful of strokes. The saw teeth are pretty coarse so it takes a bit of effort to get the cut started, but it cuts well once you get going. The pruning blade can handle smaller branches of about 1/2” or so max. The attached rope that pulls the pruning blade doesn’t attach to the pole, so tends to get in the way and wrapped around previously cut branches laying about. With the limitations of the pruner, I don’t see myself using it much. But the saw works well.

UPDATE: I just spent a whole weekend using this tool and wanted to update the review with additional experience. One thing I've grown to love about this is that it is NOT telescoping--it comes in several pieces of about a foot in length each and you just connect as many as you need for a particular job. This is a bit of a pain as you need to adjust for different lengths throughout your project, but is ultimately much more of a pro than a con. I was working with another tool that is telescoping at the same time as this one and it was so flimsy when fully extended whereas this one is the same thickness throughout and stays extended, rather than springing back over time. It's also nice to have a shorter tool when needed as it is definitely a workout when you are using the full 14-ft length, and you need to be mindful of what's behind you, etc.Another thing I have come to appreciate is the hooked nature of the saw and the top of the pruners. At first, it was a bit awkward for me to figure out how to grab the branches I wanted with these things. But if you hook the red part of the pruners around the branch you want to cut and then pull the cord straight and firmly, it will cut as smoothly as hand pruners. Similarly, the flexible and curved nature of the saw blade allow you to maintain a "grip" on your cut. You are not meant to be able to pull the blade all the way through until the very end. Instead, the curve in the blade serves as a stopping point to prevent you from losing your place on the branch. Push it forward and cut again, using short back and forth motions. It takes a while, but you'll eventually work your way through the whole branch. The thickest one I cut with this was about 4 inches in diameter--but it was hard. 2 inches diameter is where this shines.ORIGINAL REVIEW: You won't be cutting down a tree with this thing anytime soon, but it is a great and reasonably-priced tool for trimming small branches or pruning plants that are in hard-to-reach areas. I have one of the latter--a very large and vibrant bush on a steep riverbank. It's too dangerous and slippery to climb down to it and so the only access is to lean over an adjacent dock to trim it. If we don't, it soon grows too tall and blocks everyone's view of the water. Yet we can't rip it out or kill it without compromising the bank. When I tell you I have spent the last two summers hanging over the dock railing with a hedge trimmer while someone was holding me by the ankles, I'm not joking. So while it sounds like hyperbole, this tool is truly a life-saver! I can reach the entire bush with my feet on the ground. The saw is sharp enough to cut through thick branches and the pruners make quick work of thinner ones.If you have large trees, get a chainsaw. But if you've got small trees or a pruning predicament of your own, I highly recommend this!

My results using this pole saw were mixed. The saw blade is not very sturdy and the wing nut does tend to work it's way loose. Also, if you are applying pressure to one side of the saw, the pole handles tend to work their way loose.I'm glad i saw this mentioned in other reviews, so I knew what i might be in for. I was surprised at how well the snipper worked. If I hooked it over what I wanted to clip, pulling it snugly toward me, then pulled the cord, it actually cut pretty well. I had a few times where my target was thin, or at bad angle, so it struggled, but it worked well 60 - 70% of the time. I wish there was some way to attach the end of the cord to the handle, to keep it in reach and avoid tangles. It just dangles from the top of the tool, so it requires some management. We recently bought a home with a few small palm trees and are slowly learning how to care for them. This saw will be a huge help!

I used it to cut the branches on my cherry trees in the driveway and I used alot to the pices I think about 10 ft at the longest and it cut down the smaller branches with the poll rope ok the saw was a little difficult when there was 10 feet of pole its awkward I couldn't imagine using all the pieces and mallke. It 14feet long I dont think you can use the pull cutter when its that long and it would be very demanding trying to saw something with that skinny pole at 10 feet it was bending good at 14 it would be to much for me im shure it could be done I just couldn't do it but im getting kinda old lol

Got the 14ft pole saw and had a chance to use it a couple of times.Overall very good in its performance- blade edges are sharp and the the looper action is pretty good.Like the fact that you can literally reach approximately 20 ft safely by using a ladder with holding handrail is pretty nice.few things to be careful and note1. As always, the longer it becomes, the more difficult it will get to control the movement and any winds or otherwise will make it difficult.2. do not operate near electric lines or other wise hazardous areas- and be aware of the ‘fall zone’ if the pole were to get out of control and land-3. The length is ‘adjustable’ not by sliding pins or levers but by threaded pipes- so you should know really how many pieces you need before you start using it.4. There is no easy way to store this- the blade does not fold and there is no sheath for the blade to cover the sharp edges- so if you have to store, you literally have to disassemble the entire threaded rods and remove the blade.5. Wear gloves certainly if you were to use the looper and pull the rope.Always be double safe when you use tools at heights.
