About this item

  • JAPANESE STYLE PULL SAW: This product is a “Pull Saw.” Most people are used to European saws, called “push saws,” which cuts through a pushing motion. On the other hand, Japanese saws cut materials via pulling and are called “pull saws.” In comparison to “push saws,” this Japanese product is lighter in weight, requires less power, and results in a cleaner edge.
  • JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws consist of top quality Japanese steel. The high-quality steel makes razor sharp cuts.
  • MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN products are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. The whole process of making these tools are completed in one of Japan’s towns known for its craft-making tradition with a history of over 100 years.
  • DIVERSIFY YOUR WOODWORKING LIFE: No matter if you are a master or a beginner, using traditional Japanese-style saws gives you a brand new experience and lets you make a wider range of woodworking products, thus changing your life!

The point of using a Japanese saw is to "cut with pulling force". Instead of pushing hard to cut, apply a light force when pulling and relax when pushing, so that you can cut smoothly without getting tired even after long hours of use. Feel and enjoy SUIZAN's authentic Japanese saws.

Great saw, hardly any effort to get a clean quick cut. I love this saw

Works well but others I've had are perfectly straight when looking down the length of it. This one veers off a couple degrees where the handle meets the blade makes cuts feel awkward

Title says it all. The globe has been trying to catch up to the japanese since cutting tools were invented. While the round eye was using clubs in caves, the japanese were cutting T-Rex steaks and Megalodon sushi in Shinto temples that (i might add) are still standing today because of their insane joinery work. The best part is, it's not expensive. You can cut like a Neanderthal, or you can cut like a Samurai.

This was bought as a gift, so all I can say is that it arrived on time as scheduled, and it looked nice.

A very good saw. Use lightly as heavy or rigorous use can break or bend the teeth. Very precise and will cut through any wood when used properly.

If you start with a Ryoba - an ideal first saw for anyone - this is the next saw to get, if you want to cut larger pieces of wood. 2x6, 2x8 and 2x10 are no problem for this saw. Certainly, you can do this with a Ryoba. This is just better - a finer cut, even more controlled and it feels like it wants to stretch out and cut larger timbers. It is a pleasure to use. A first rate saw.

Simply put, this saw is absolutely outstanding. The main reason I got this saw was for cutting rough lumber to length (are almost to length at least), however this saw quickly became an obviously much more capable tool. I can use this for everything from rough cross-cutting, to cutting out joinery, to even flush cutting pegs for timber framing, amazing tool at an amazing price. So far the blade has retained its sharpness through approximately 10 hours of hard use (stretched over multiple projects). I've little doubt that it will last much longer before needing a new blade considering it hasn't even begun to slow down.

This is a wicked sharp saw blade. Cuts hard woods fast and clean and even handles the super hard purple heart quick and easy. Had to get used to the cut on the pull but the saw handles very nicely. Love the ability to get a true flush cut. I will try another SUIZAN saw in the near future. I highly recommend this saw!

This is an excellent, cheap, cross cut saw. I have been able to accurately and easily cut through Maple, soft woods, and Walnut.I liked the single blade nature of this saw and it has a slightly different tooth ratio than the double bladed one Which works really well.
