This filter is perfect. Works great

Item seems ok. But can’t get air out of intake line. I’ve done everything and even watched videos on it. And next step taking all apart and trying again

So I've got a lot of canister filters, most more expensive than this one. Fluval's, Marineland's and EHEIM's. I bought two of these Sunsun HW-3000 UVs and I've been running them both for a year and a half now, and hands down they are the best filters I've ever owned. No competition. The ease of maintenance, their power and power variability, quality and how completely trouble free they've been, blow all my other canisters away.A couple of caveats, they are slightly noisy at the top power settings 4 to 6 than other canisters. Not perfect for a bedroom aquarium. And the light on the panel is bright and doesn't dim. Fortunately for me they're both in cabinets in the fishroom, so it doesn't matter.Other than that though, no problem. I will gradually be replacing all my other filters with these.

So far so good!Moves a lot of water.Has a ton of room for media!Nice and quiet.EZ enough to operate.Much better than my 304B.

Although this does filter your water its not on par with their rating seeing as I have it in a 75g. On top of that I had to replace the first one that was issued bc the pump didn't work and was doa. The process for starting the HW-3000 is absolutely absurd and the direction they give you aren't any help. You have to fill both In and Out tubes while the In is open and the Out is closed until the filter canister and tubes are entirely filled. If you fill the canister before you attach the pump and tubes, the excess air inside the canister will cause the pump to malfunction. The only way to fix this is to slightly open it while its on to release the air which will spill water everywhere or empty it and fill it via the tube which takes an annoyingly long time.Edit: A few months with the HW-3000 on my heavily planted 75g and I'm pleased to say its working well. I think it stops at the 75g though, imo. It needs a bit of help from an internal canister to manage dust but other then that it seeds this size tank great.

My 22 year old filter is still working fine, but it has a worn out O-Ring and manufacturer long since stopped producing correct size O-Rings, so I decided 6 months ago to get a second filter that would help the oldie get the aquarium clean and when the old filter gives out, would become a primary filter. What attracted me in this model was very big media capacity, ultra violet light anti-bacterial filtration and ability to adjust water flow. And I can say that in the past 6 months this filter performed flawlessly in all these regards. My aquarium water have never been so clean and I can get away with Power Setting of 2 out of 6 for my 75 gallon tank (that is when two filters, the old and the new are working together). Extra bonus was how quiet this filter operates. At power setting 2 I can not hear it unless I am less than an arm length away from it. At full power I can still barely hear it couple of yards away, but it’s such a low hum that the sound dissipates quickly and does not bother me at all. Changing settings on this filter is also quick and easy. My UV filtration light is currently set at operating 4 hours every day and this is enough to keep bacteria from spreading. When I introduce new fish to the aquarium, I run UV light to 24 hours a day and also increase water flow to full power for one week, after that returning to old mode. The connectors on this filter are all very well done and all feature double O-Rings for no leak worry operation. The tubes are long and wide, allowing for good water flow (a bit more on this subject later in review). The canister itself is very sturdy made of thick plastic and the head unit is also of excellent quality.Disconnecting the filter for cleaning is also super easy. I recently made the first cleaning after 5 months of operation and to my surprise the filter was still very clean. My set up consists of two large, two medium and two fine sponge filters, 1 polisher filter, and various bio filter media, including excellent Seachem Matrix stones that promote bacteria growth to control not only nitrate levels, but also nitrite. I am amazed at how much media I can put in this filter and the result is much cleaner aquarium and much longer periods between cleanings.This all brings me to one, but pretty substantial con of this filter. The start up after cleaning. The documentation states that filter has ‘built in smart auto priming pump’, but alas, there is no such function. There is also no priming button on this filter like on many similar ones and so the priming is becoming a nightmare. I only did it twice so far: once when setting up filter for the first time and one time after the first cleaning. Both times it took me more then an hour to prime this filter, even though I tried to follow all the steps outlined in documentation and various videos. The reason in my view are those wide tubes that hold tremendous amount of water and have air bubbles that are almost impossible to get rid from. Next time when I will be cleaning the filter I would cut the tubes to remove all the extra unnecessary length and hopefully this would make priming a bit easier. But I am still bemused how my 22 year old filter starts up with no issues every time after the cleaning while I am struggling with a much more advanced model that is supposed to solve the priming issue long ago.

I was pleasantly surprised how quiet this filter is. I have a Bio master 800 Thermal beside it that cost 3 times as much and the Sunsun 3000 filter is quiet, moves more water, has bigger media capacity and a digital display. I like that the Sunsun 3000 uv also comes with a uv light that is easy to use and controllable from the filter display. Slowing the filter speed and changing light time is critical if you have a parasite outbreak or want to help with algae control. The Sunsun is easy to disconnect the hoses and clean. There is no pushing a pump to get it primed. If it had a handle to make carrying easier and an built in heater it would be the perfect filter. In my opinion Worth every penny.

I use it on my 60 gallon cube aquarium. Works like a charm. UV lamp didn't have much effect on my algae but it helped a little. I clean it every 3 months. Pulls up a lot of dirt. The minus is when I just set it up it took a while to prime. I had to fill the filter itself and hoses with water to the top. If there's more than a couple of inches of air in those hoses - no suction, but as soon as it's as full as possible - no problem. So far no leaks. Have been working as a champ for almost a year now.

Damage, and safety issues! unable that’s far to get a hold of the seller, or Sunsun who I have emailed, and never gotten a response. I ordered through Amazon 11/11/22… Did not set this unit up or unboxed it until about a month ago. Set up was easy, the filter worked wonderfully for the first three weeks Until I arrived home smelling plastic burning in my home, the room that housed the filter was flooded with approx 50 gal of water and my tank only had 6 inches of water left in the aquarium. The top of the filter was bulging on one side, water spilled from the edges with any movement dust meaning it was no longer sealed. Furniture damaged and my floors warped as a result. I’ve tried contacting Sun Sun and have heard nothing back regarding this matter. It is in material to me that I was past the 30 days return this item could have burned my house as well as the water damage that it caused. Thus far this review seems to be the only satisfaction I have found as I cannot find a live person to talk to besides Amazon that wants to address what has happened here. Amazon is not able to manage my problem so here I am still trying to get a hold of SunSun, or Tropical Fish and Coral ( the seller) to address the very short lifespan of this product that was clearly defective, and hazardous! 😡

Excelente producto , tengo otro desde hace 2 años y al día de hoy funciona correctamente, solicite este nuevo ya que me dio un excelente resultado y monte una urna más , tengo instalado un FX4 y debo decir que el funcionamiento es muy similar en cuanto al flujo , pero con el SunSun HW 3000 tengo la ventaja de tener uv y el agua es completamente cristalina. Los medios de filtración son insuficientes así que debes comprar aparte más material filtrante , de ahí en fuera todo funciona muy bien , debes leer bien el manual y hacer todo lo indicado , cómo tip te aconsejo que la caída de las mangueras no sea mayor a la altura del canister ya que hará ruido y le costará trabajo el arrancar , posterior a eso es muy silencioso y desempeña un trabajo excelente.
