This was a replacement for a basket that had fallen apart. I was pleasantly surprised at how strong and heavy this one is. I like the weighted bottom, it keeps it in place.

Basket is a very thick, good plastic quality. I do recommend it however it is a little bit smaller than the size I needed.

I've had pools for 38 years, and I've always had to get down on my knees to remove the skimmer basket for cleaning. I've always bought baskets with handles to assist in removal, and when the baskets have become full, the weight has been sufficient to break the handle. The baskets of course were still functional, but the reason for buying it (ease or removal) was gone. This basket is made of heavier plastic then the normal replacement skimmer basket and the metal handle appears strong enough to last a lifetime, at least my lifetime (I'm 81 years old). I've purchased a short pole to lift it out (saving my knees) although the long pole and hook I use for my cordless robotic cleaner would work. (My skimmer is located on the side of the pool next to my screened in porch. I'm a little paranoid about putting the long pole through the screens.) Because of its heavier construction, it would intrinsically appear to be heavier than my other skimmer baskets. While hopefully heavier will mean more durable, truthfully I've never had a problem with any skimmer basket popping up out of the skimmer because it was too light. So I don't regard the additional brass weight they have added as a useful feature. It doesn't hurt anything (no star deduction) but they could have left it off and reduced the price and I'd still have given this basket five stars.

Super high quality, 2x thicker than my original and handle appears to be pretty heavy duty. Confident it will last.
