We bought this for times when the grandkids came over or when I my wife wanted to watch one of her movies. The device replaced a unit we had for years that only played DVD's. After reading all the negative reviews about the sound I expected the sound quality to be bad; ours is fine. This little thing is working very well. We are pretty easy on our stuff so it lasts a while.. so, maybe, just a little TLC and it will serve your needs. It works very well for us and the grandkids.

I bought this item within 3 month the remote died. I contacted sylvania for a replacement remote. I gave them all the information about the item and sylvania has still not given me a new remote or a replacement item to fix the issue. I have spent about $200 on this piece of junk. A month later the blu ray player died. Do not get this item

First one had a large bright white dead pixel on screen right out of the box. Sent back for a replacement. 2nd one was good for about a week or so, then the start up time started slowing down along with noises. Sent back for refund. Spare yourself the headaches and don't bother with this product.

The first one I bought was a renewed product and it didn’t work right out of the box so I had to return it the second one that I got worked fine the only problem is there’s no way to fast forward it unless you have the remote
