Best Microphone I've used for filming. It's a great boom mic while shooting, but its also good in the office. very clear crisp audio and it looks very durable with the metal housing.

To start with the build quality is amazing and the microphone feels quite substantial without being overly heavy, the machine work for the threaded insert where you can place the battery is great. No parts included feel cheap but rather pretty good quality. The wind sock is uniform and durable and quite effective, though I can’t say I have used it in a windstorm yet. The audio quality is the best I have used yet, it is capable of giving you the nice booming sound of a sm7b albeit it takes a little adjusting in whatever your attaching it too, the HPF works great but I find I like the mic better with it off and just implementing a noise gate or noise filter. I do most of my studio recording in OBS or Adobe Audition and I have my profile set on OBS I use a 3 way eq, a condenser, and a noise filter to achieve the sound I like. I used this in a noisy press conference recently plugged directly to my dslr using the AA and it not only picked up the athletes at the conference table but was able to easily pick up the audio of the other press people asking questions. The noise floor is fantastic and filters out a lot of the noise in my home studio, and the fact that it works great at a large event at a MLB stadium when a rodeo is going on there and it allowed me to pick up the sound of the cowboys and horses while filtering out most of the incredibly loud speakers and pushing them to just ambient level was amazing. I highly recommend this if you are trying to up your audio game and I can tell you if I went with my original plan I would have bought 1 mic for my home studio, one for my camera, and another as a backup to the one on my camera. Now I feel great that this mic is able to be used as a mic on a boom in my studio, atop my camera for great on the go sound, and as a handheld mic for quick interviews when I don’t have time to hook up lavaliere mics or get them out. If you need a mic this is the best one for the money out there and I have looked at them all and I would buy the D2 if I did any cinematography.

This mic is a real value for the money. Of course, at $100-$130 it is not a Sennheiser MKH 416 (one of the industry standards and 8-10 times the price) but with a little EQ, I think you can get you pretty close. What it does have is the option to use either phantom power or a AA battery so that just about anything will work with this microphone. It seems to be of very nice quality, too (especially for a mic of this price). This and the Synco D2 seems to be very good values for people who want to get professional sound but don't have a professional budget. Most definitely workable. I've included both the D1 and the D2 in my professional sound rig as backups and second unit mics. For the money, this is a win!

I needed a shotgun mic to be heard from about two feet away, and bought this for recording and streaming from a computer. Because it supports using a dedicated battery and 3.5mm converter, I was assuming it would be enough by itself.Sadly the quality through the 3.5mm port isn't good enough to boost, and needs a XLR preamp. I ended up buying an M-Track Solo to pair with it, and even it has to be maxed and paired with a gain filter on the PC to be loud enough.

I've bought two of these mics on whim for a studio video project and I have to say I am more than happy. I'd say the best value for the money that I've come across. It's also a big bonus that I can toss in a battery and use one on camera. I would definitely buy another product from this company.
