The TAMRON 28-300mm F4-7.1 VC is an all-in-one zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. This lens covers a broad focal length range from 28mm wide-angle to 300mm telephoto with superior imaging performance. It achieves a zoom ratio of 10.7x with a length of just 126mm (5") and a weight of only 610g (21.5oz).

Impressive image quality
Ergonomic design for convenient, user-friendly operation
Our engineers examined the structure and key parts right down to the fine details, resulting in an enhanced design that updates both operability and the ergonomic considerations. The surface of the lens exterior is shiny and glossy black. Improved abrasion resistance makes the lens harder to scratch and resists fingerprints. The rubber on the ring is also updated to have better grip performance with deeper grooves. The smoothly curved, glossy surface of the brand ring creates a dignified appearance with a design that signifies functional beauty and high quality.
Compatible with TAMRON Lens Utility software
The 28-300mm F4-7.1 VC is compatible with the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software (for computers and Android OS) that was developed in-house by TAMRON. This software allows various lens and camera settings to be assigned to the Focus Set Button located on the lens. Also, the lens' firmware can be updated to the latest version. In addition, when using the mobile version, functions unique to the mobile version can be operated remotely without touching the lens. Users may customize functions for various still photography and videography shooting styles, thereby providing a more personalized and fulfilling shooting experience.
Unified 67mm filter diameter
Great things come in compact packages! This lineup includes other lenses that share the same filter diameter of 67mm. Lenses in this series feature small and light designs ideal for pairing with mirrorless cameras, and the filter diameter of each lens is the same 67mm. In addition to providing excellent portability when carrying multiple lenses, costly Polarizers, ND and other filters can be used interchangeably. Plus, the hassle of looking for different-sized lens caps when switching lenses has been eliminated.
Outstanding performance across the entire zoom range
The 28-300mm F4-7.1 VC features an optical construction of 20 elements in 13 groups to deliver high image quality and high resolution. Because of an optical design that includes one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and one LD (Low Dispersion) special lens element, chromatic aberration and other artifacts are efficiently controlled. As an all-in-one zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the lens boasts class-leading high image quality.

Ok, so I got a little windfall and I've been looking at this lens for over a year, so I bit the bullet and purchased it. I live in SW Kansas, so it's kind of dry and dusty, with not much in the way of scenery, but I went out and took pictures of dried grasses and sunflowers blowing in the breeze and they turned out well enough to be screensavers for my computer. I look forward to taking it to Colorado in Sept.

So, if you want a really good lens that has good auto focus and is well built with weather sealing and will give you nice pictures at a fairly reasonable price then this is a very nice lens with a huge working range that will not disappoint most normal photographers.

I'm using this lens with a Nikon D800, and it performs well. Telephoto lenses always add to your camera weight. But it's no heavier than my Nikon 28-300mm lens, which pleasantly surprised me. I would recommend taking some tele shots and downloading them to see how they will appear to get a good feel for the new lens. I've been using a 300mm lens for so long that I was too close to the subjects, and some of the subjects were cut off. Once I adjusted, this lens produced picture-perfect excellent, quality photos. I uploaded a photo of my water lily to give a real-life perspective. I am very impressed. The camera bag included is also noteworthy. It's expandable and of excellent quality. Overall I am extremely satisfied.

I bought this lens for travel to Europe. Didn't want to have to carry all my heavy lenses. It did a pretty good job. Not as sharp as some of my better lenses but overall happy with the results. Not good for close up work, lens is not as sharp as others. Bigger disappoint for me was with some of the other accessories that came with the camera. The lens filter was the wrong size, and the card reader worked one and then would not work again. But overall a good purchase.

This is my second Tamron lens and it’s better than my first. I am not a professional photographer, I just wanted something easy. This lens is great. My husband had been wanting to upgrade from the lens that came with his Nikon camera. A photography friend of his recommended this one, so I ordered it for my husband. Most importantly, the lense lives up to expectations. The holster is well made and will be very practical for hiking. The uv lens doesn't seem to distort; however, the polarizer is useless to me as it cuts down on image sharpness.. Comes with a USA warranty. Fast delivery, well packaged.
