About this item

  • Also available in 12715 - 40*40mm, 12720 - 50*50mm, and 12710 - 40*40 copper substrate models.
  • A higher grade 12706 offered by Cold & Colder. Greater reliability, smoother surface, cleaner materials and the latest manufacturing advances result in a better Peltier module. Many factories use less thermoelectric material and sell under-powered 12706 units. This unit pulls true 6 amps at maximum voltage.
  • Rated up to 80 watts at 16.5 Volts. Can attain a delta-T value of 68 degrees C.
  • Reaches freezing temperatures at as low as 5 volts input. We highly recommend experimenting with using lower voltages, or daisy-chaining 2 or 3 Peltier chips in series to a 12V power supply, to achieve much higher COP values and produce dramatically less waste heat. Most users do not need the -30C these chips can achieve at maximum voltages and running at lower volts is extremely efficient.
  • Try Cold & Colder's premium TEC1-12715 for even more power in the same package!

Disappointed with the finicky performance or some inexpensive Peltiers, we are happy to offer a higher grade 12706 module - a cleaner, better made chip made of top grade materials, guaranteed to be more reliable in extreme conditions, less prone to failure, and overall, aesthetically more satisfying.

Purchased this TEC1 Peltier Cooler to save/repair a beverage chiller based on reviews and I'm very pleased with it. Compared to the old peltier cooler, it is slightly thicker, heavier and has thicker wiring so it is probably better quality unit than what it replaced. A few points to help others: Some reviews said there was no indication of cold vs hot side. I used a battery and laser thermometer to determine which was which and marked it w a pen. It is also very important to clean everything from dust and remove the old chalky thermal paste and use new paste. I used a good quality paste for processors I found here on Amazon. You don't need much! You might also consider replacing the controller board to avoid dealing with replacing capacitors or the original board later on. And I found that the chiller is much more efficient than before with the new TEC1 peltier cooler and new thermal paste, so this TEC1 cooler is keeping the chiller colder despite being at a lower setting, saving money on power use. In other words for me its a: win, win, win. Hope this is helpful!

My wine refrigerator stopped cooling. I pulled apart the unit and was surprised to see the cooling was done with a TEC1-12706 Cooler Chip. So, I ordered this chip as a replacement and the refrigerator started cooling again. The refrigerator has been working for the last 2-3 months since I switched to this chip. One important detail, the interwebs told me I needed thermal paste as part of the replacement. I purchased thermal paste for $6 on Amazon.

First time replacing one of these. Was very easy and a perfect replacement for the stock cooler. Cooled wine cooler faster than original. Watched a you tube video to make sure installed in right direction. I believe it was label side is the cold side.

My wine fridge had stopped cooling so after a bit of investigation I opened up the cooling module to find a Tec1-12706 inside. I settled on the Cold & Colder option as they pretested the unit and stated it was a higher quality than some on the market. The only issue I had was finding out which side of the Tec1-12706 was the cold side. The description on Amazon did not say, or the Cold & Colder Web site itself. Datasheets also did not clearly state which side was cold. Even googling around turned up a difference of opinion. In the end, I found 4 sites saying the cold side was the one with printing on it and one against. This appeared to be the opposite of my original module but I went with it and reassembled the unit and I had cooling again. All I can think is that different manufacturers have different labeling methods and ways of indicating the cold side, so to having it precisely indicated by the seller would have saved a lot of time and worry. Only time will tell if the quality is significantly better but now at least I can drink cool wine while waiting.

I bought some other slightly cheaper TEC1-12706 modules from Amazon because they had many more reviews. It ended up costing me a lot more money because one of the modules only lasted ~18 hours and I had to perform the repair all over again.I've had these TEC1-12706 modules now for about two months in my Ivation IVFWCT181DB Dual Zone Wine Cellar and haven't had any issues. Don't be cheap spend just a little more on the real deal!

I'm currently using one chip on my Fridgidaire Micro Fridge but I will probably be changing that to two of them in the future. The chip I'm using at the moment really wants to go about 5.5 amps at 16.5 volts; which is around 87 watts of output. In summary, these chips work and I'm glad they're not overpriced like the competition
