Our day is based on the spin of the Earth. Our years are measured by revolutions around the sun. Time is based on circles. Since time is based on circles, isn’t a circle the best way to represent time? This timer does that by representing a diminishing hour on circular clock. The clock displays the current time in a red disc that gradually shrinks until the red disc disappears and the alarm sounds. This is a great way to teach kids about time. Allowing a child to visually see how time decreases at a constant rate is a valuable way to understand the nature of time and learn to have a sense of how fast time is passing. It can also be an effective way to place limits on a child’s time, such as allowing one hour to watch TV.This timer could be most useful as a kitchen timer. When a cook is working in batches, such as deep-frying, repeatedly setting a complicated digital timer can be time-consuming. This timer allows a person to set a time with a simple twist of a knob. The nice thing is the bright red disc is easy to see in peripheral vision, so a cook does not have to look directly at the timer to be aware of the time left. The face of the timer faces upward at an angle, so it will be easy to see on a counter while a person is standing. The face is white. The numbers are black. The disc is red. These colors provide maximum contrast and make the clock easy to read. The timer uses two AAA batteries that are easily accessible from the back. The body is bottom-heavy and makes the timer sit securely on a flat surface. The alarm is loud enough to hear from the next room. It chirps for about ten seconds. I wish the device provided options for longer periods of chirping, but it doesn’t.In conclusion, this is a great timer for cooks or kids. I am happy with it and recommend it.

I usually cook simple things, but when I go fancy it’s all out. Invariably I run out of timers, and get to the point where I’m afraid to ask anything more from my watch or phone. More often than not it’s something that needs only 5 more minutes, but I know I’ll forget if I don’t set an alarm. Rather than shouting out to someone “tell me when 5 minutes is up” I can reach for this. I opened the box, took the timer out of its bubble wrap, turned the dial to “5” and it started right up. It’s easy to tell at a glance how close you are to time’s up. It sounds a few dings when the time is up, then turns off on its own. And if you do need a few more minutes, it takes a few seconds to reach and turn the dial again. I still prefer my watch and phone for big hunks of time, but this is perfect for short bits of time. It’s also easy for kids to operate. Even though it’s low tech, every kitchen should have one of these. I highly recommend it!

This timer will definitely help me accomplish what I bought it for. I wanted to provide a "visual" for my toddlers when I tell them they have 10 minutes until bed, 5 minutes before we have to leave, etc. This timer will help get that done! It does seem a little cheap, so I'm afraid of little hands getting on it and breaking it, but I'll just have to keep it up and away from them. Overall, very satisfied!

This is one of my favorite gadgets of the year! I used to have a digital clock timer but it got dropped and broken. I like this because it is easy to read with the red mark showing the time, it shows marks (so you can pick exact times like 7 minutes not just increments of 5), and I like that it is pleasing to the eye! It can be used for adults or for kids. A lot of timers are geared towards kids, but I'm an adult who just needs to cook, and sometimes need to check on things after 30 mins so a simple reminder is great! I wish the ringing would end, as it KEEPs going; however, it makes sure you hear it!! So far, the battery hasn't died so seems to continue working. It came with the batteries installed and a plastic pull tab you pulled and then it was ready to roll. Everytime I walk by it, I get happy because it looks like a simple, classic timer - just the look I want! The red is very modern / retro ! Very cute.

I actually got this for work. Some of the projects that I work on, I have to time myself in order to allocate my work hours. And since I usually forget to use my phones timer, this is great. Since it sets right below my monitor, I don't forget to set it as often. Compared to my cell, it seems to be off about 45s per hour. But that's acceptable and likely due to the quality of the batteries. I like the high contrast of the display. From a distance, even if you cannot read the numbers, you can easily tell by the red dial how much time is remaining. I also like that the alarm stops beeping after a certain time, so you don't always have to reset it. As well as being adjustable for loudness. However, I do wish it had a pause feature. But that's not a deal breaker for me. And at $28, I find it rather expensive for what it's used for. No complaints so far, but I'd recommend shopping for a more reasonably priced timer for the value.

This timer works very well. I like the bright red color that shows up when you're twisting the knob to set the time. It's very easy to see where you've set the time and you can get it to the minute. The timer is exactly on time as well, I tested it with different timing devices. It's durable, I knocked it off the counter and it still works and nothing broke. The audible timer alarm is also very loud. I can have this set and hear it anywhere in the kitchen or other adjacent rooms. Overall it's good value for the money and I recommend this timer.
