I carry PVC 1.5 and 2 inch with this. I also carry fishing poles and pool poles. I have had zero issues. I am unsure of the longevity of the cloth strap. I believe the sun might cook it over time. However this is an easy fix.

I like this quite a bit but I’m not sure of the need for it. All my kayak paddles split in two and can be easily transported inside my wife’s SUV. The woven ribbon is sort of awkward to thread: a lot of extra work for something I could securely throw in the back.

***Works best if you have a Thule roof rack track system. If not they can still be used with some modification. They are easy to instal if you have the right rack already. The Thule Jawgrip holder works great! The grip is well padded and hold paddles very securely. They hold my paddles easily and without a hassle. Wish I would have had this paddle holder sooner! Makes traveling with them so much easier!

We have been going out to use our kayak and paddles for a few weeks and the weather is still warm in our neck of the woods but it has been a struggle securing our paddles and kayak on the vehicle. We decided to get this Thule JawGrip holder but we had to get a Thule track first to attach the paddles. If your vehicle doesn't have the Thule system, you may improvise by using another top of the rack system with some clamps. Either way, these holders are pretty sturdy and durable and quite easy to set- up and they secure our paddles and kayak without any hassles. We have been using them for the last few weeks, and so far, so good, as they are holding up really well. Another thing I do like is that they come with rubber paddings that keep the paddles intact and protected during our numerous trips.

These work ok. Relatively easy to install but may require a special bracket for some crossbars. There's not much to these, simple plastic base with a couple of straps on each one. Like most things we attach to our van I plan to add secondary/backup cables just in case these fail. I got a used/returned set, hope everything is there.

I took a gamble to see if these work with my Rhino Rack HD cross bars and the short answer is yes, with some modification. The t-bolt is smaller than the slot width of the cross bars. I was able to use a washers to increase the diameter of the bolts without losing too much of the threads. I might use a more sturdy m6 or m8 channel slot nut later. But for now, the washers are working. There's only one attachment point so there are small tabs on both side underneath to keep the brackets from spinning. While the straps work well enough, I would prefer the quick fist style of rubber straps.I'm actually using these for some off road recover tools and they're holding and they seem to be working plenty well.

You must have a Thule rack with the top-of-rack track for attachments to use these...If you have such a Thule rack, this pair of grips will hold two paddle or mast-size poles securely alongside your canoe or kayak. The v-shaped groove is about 3/4 inch deep and at a 130-degree angle will hold up to about a two-inch diameter pole. There is a webstrap for clamping objects and a rubber rest on the base for protecting your carbon paddle from scratches. This is a unique little item and you've got to be into Thule systems to want to spend the money for it, but it works well and if you want to put your paddles up top, it's a convenient way to go.

UK paddle boarder/kayaker here. I’ve had a fair few Thule products over the years (kayaking, skiing, roof racks and bars etc) and I’ve rarely been disappointed as they’re very high quality, expensive yes but worth it in my opinion.I was gifted this which I was very pleased about as it’s the ideal premise for carrying long one piece paddles and keeping them out of the car.Easy to assemble out the box, straight into the T track on my aero bars, keeps the paddle secure and all very near and tidy. However, it took my 7 year old daughter literally 20 seconds per carrier to unscrew the nut and take them off the car. Why hasn’t this grip got some sort of locking mechanism?I’m loathed to ask the buyer to return them as they are a thoughtful present so I’m going to make do by putting some cable ties round the paddle holder rest and hope they remain there.Only a 3 from me. Great, simple idea but ridiculously easy to remove. You can do better Thule!

For years, I've been trying to figure out where to put my paddle within my car. Diagonally across the front to back seats. Works but extremely uncomfortable and might break a window! This was just a mind-blowing accessory. Why didn't I get it sooner? This was easy to install on my Thule racks, remove the bracket, slide a piece on after working the straps on, cutting some plastic pieces and looking at the number to make sure everything lines up. This really makes my life so much easier to go out kayaking. It holds the paddles tightly and I don't have to worry about them going anywhere. I'm super happy with this Thule accessory!
