Do you have a home gym? Do you have a home gym because you enjoy working out barefoot? This tibialis anterior exercise device is perfect for you! I took a long time reviewing this device because I am heavily invested in the experience. A long time ago, there was a company called Health For Life and one of their products was the D.A.R.D, Dynamic Axial Resistance Device, and they offered the only such thing until, recently, quite suddenly, there was an explosion of similar devices here on Amazon. If everyone is really fortunate, Amazon will pay to have the books updated and reprinted, HFL was way ahead of the times. Regardless, now, several devices that could claim to have inherited the mantle from the D.A.R.D are available on Amazon, each has its own quirks. This would be D.A.R.D, particular talent is that, and this is a matter of much more than just having thick pads, it is perfect for bare feet! The thing is that you have to get the proportions right or you will not get the right effect. Where for one designed for use while wearing shoes, the bar must be across the heels while the lightly padded upper bar must be, ideally, behind the metatarsals, one designed for bare feet cannot look like that. For bare feet, the two pads have to be much thicker and they have to be closer together. The bottom bar would cross in front of the heel and the top bar might rest higher on the foot than the device intended for shoes. However, the designer must take into account the thickness of the padding because too thick a pad and the device will point up! What that means is that as the muscle reaches maximal contraction, all the resistance would be gone! This is a great device as long as it is used by bare feet. The evidence does suggest that the best muscle mass gains are gotten when the muscle is contracted while it is stretched and the shortest length is loaded as heavy as the fully stretched loading appeared from the point of view of the muscle. A lot of that depends on the insertion and origin and the relationship between the two levers, nevertheless, as a rule of thumb, consider that the calves produce enough force to cause you to rise above the ground, for some, as high as 3 or 4 feet! That is a lot of extra force pushed towards the ground through the ball of your foot! It is the excess reaction force of the planet that lifts you so the greater the difference between your mass and the force you applied the better. All the more so if the rate at which the force was developed and applied is faster rather than slower. In fact, if you apply a force slowly enough, all the force you would have applied to the planet might be dissipated as heat! What has any of that got to do with the tibialis anterior? Generally speaking, muscles on oposite sides of a bone should be balanced --they are pulling on the same bone-- however, that "balance" is most likely a ratio that is not 1:1. For instance, the quadriceps is stronger than the biceps femoris so that a 3:2 ratio should exist there. Reality, in terms of movement, is a little more complicated because the materials have properties other than the ability to conduct a given force from point a to point b. For instance, every step taken while running involves an eccentric contraction of the tibialis anterior and it is also where one finds shin splints.Much has been made of so called "micro tears" in the muscle and it is mostly nonsense. Anyone that has had shin splints will tell you that they do not go away over the time that other muscles "damaged" by eccentric contractions stop being sore. The reason is that muscles and tendons pull on bone and it takes time and training to get the origin and insertion points as well as all the other continuos points in the facia and the Sharpey's fibers are being torn by the force of the eccentric contraction and the difference between the force production curve of the gastrocnemius and the relaxation curve of the tibialis anterior. The stress in question can damage the bone sufficiently so as to produce stress fractures --really, a failure to adapt to the stressor. What is really the case is that strengthening the tibialis anterior with this device from MUCNFTS will get rid of shin splints before they start and it will do it ridiculously better and faster than a rubber band. Better yet, there isn't a limit to the strength that the tibialis anterior can develop or the resultant benefit. The reason is that the gastrocnemius is so strong that one can develop quite a tibialis anterior and a stronger arch as well as an improved ability to run without significantly "upstaging" the gastrocnemius. This device is a comfortable and highly effective way to develop the muscles of the anterior and medial tibia and, in particular, the tibialis anterior. Just so you do it barefoot.Incidentally, this is not at all far fetched, one can bench with gloves on without a problem, however, in over 30 years of lifting, I have never seen anyone with more than a few days or weeks experience use gloves to do a deadlift and I have never seen gloves used for a deadlift with any real weight. Enjoy MUCNFTS's device in your bare feet and it will do wonders for your shins.

Bought this to use with some lighter weight plates. I have a home gym and am slowly building it up with different pieces of equipment. I had NEVER used a tib bar before and this was a great choice. The attachment bar that holds the plates easily screwed on with a plastic "washer" type disc (to avoid over tightening), and the foam pads around the calf/feet bars are removable. I tried with an without the foam pads, and instead used the smaller options included. Both are comfortable and give a different type of stretch and workout. It's a nice little piece of equipment and doesn't take up much space. Beef up those calves!! 10/10 would recommend as a nice inexpensive tool to add to your home gym!

If you're interested in a Tib bar, the name "Professional Knees over toes equipment" is a tell on what probably brought you here. This is a really well done version of it.First off, it's solid and heavy. They didn't skimp on the materials. All of it from the pads to the bars to the clamps are all high end gym quality materials. There are two different bars for loading the weights, traditional iron plates and smaller ones. Either will work.It assembles quite easily and even without the instructions, you could easily take your best guess on how it should be assembled and you'd be right. But to the first point, b/c the materials are so solid and the threads are so deep, everything 'just works' , things fit snugly, there's nothing that wobbles of feels week and it's just a great product. There's nothing not to like about this.

I like the offering of an attachable 1" or 2" option for varying weights. The included clamps and pins keep you safe. It takes a little getting used to regarding balance, so start low and increase slowly. It does not come with instructions; however, I was able to find a couple of on-line videos for guidance. The foam pads seemed to slip slightly, but overall, solid product.

As a busy professional , I recently cancelled my gym membership and am always looking for efficient equipment to add to my home gym to to maximize my workouts. The tib bar has proven to be a great addition to my fitness routine, so it’s a necessity at home too. An added bonus is that it is pretty compact and easy to store.I love that this one offers the ability to use both 1" and 2" weight plates to allow for progressive overload, ensuring continuous improvement. I've noticed a significant difference in my lower leg strength and stability since incorporating the tib bar into my workouts. The targeted exercises it enables, like calf raises and ankle mobility drills, have helped me achieve more balanced (and functional) muscle strength. If you're serious about your fitness and want to elevate your leg workouts, I highly recommend investing in a tib bar. It's a small piece of equipment with a big impact.
